I'm addicted to seeking out prints.....is there any help I can get?
Can I claim any kind of disability allowance from the government to help my addiction?
Does the Priory have an art addiction section......I need to leave the house but am stuck on ebay/pow/lth/sos/this forum....aaaaahhhh.

Now I find I can go for the rest of the day without buying one. It took a while and it's best to do it steadily, maybe substituting a screenprint for a giclee to start with and then step down to a photocopy. It doesn't just happen overnight and best not to pass Galleries in the morning when the smell of fresh paint sends your body into spasms.
We're with you on this.

Now, I find myself returning home from work, taking off my jacket, and the first thing I do is log on and buy myself a fresh one. I know its not healthy, but it helps me deal with all the stress. Sometimes I miss spending time with others, but the days of rollicking with friends are becoming a distant memory. Recently I installed a mirror on the wall. My wife thinks its a bit weird, but now its not so lonely. I just shudder to imagine what my friends would think or say to see me in this state, and can't bear to have anyone around.

Just sitting there thinking "I wonder what Manchester Mike has bought today? I wonder what he will get framed next? What wall in the house will he put that new copyright on? On a more serious note...
I own my own business and this week have barely done any work. Really.

Or a Nokia 95 with web access.
When you're F5ing you can tell 'non street art addicts' that you are doing some important work or something!
No I don't do all of this!!
One tip I heard many years ago is, rather than buying something that you just about like and is just about affordable, save up ( or borrow ) and buy something really good ( and probably really expensive ) you'll not regret it in the long run!!!!

Maybe the framing guy will get his act together and come round and take a few more tubes away from me (temporarily thankfully!!).

quality not quantity. I started off compulsively buying everything. Now I've slowed down quite a bit, have some major credit card bills and just go after pieces that I absolutely love. I get new credit cards when I can and transfer the balances over to 0% promotional APR's to avoid finance charges while I'm knocking them down.
For a while there I was getting about 10 tubes a month, but in the last two months only one tube arrived with a JD (amazing) and the next to arrive will be the LV (amazing). Two pieces in my personal top 5 in two months ;D Thats way better than having a bunch of tubes lying around.

can anyone point me in a direction for something like this?

Keep your prints flat if at all poss. Then get the buggers in a frame and UP...not tubed and stashed away.
As for help with the addiction....ahem... Its a slippery slope from here on in !

I dont know what i will do. I wont be able to check the internet forums / emails / gallery websites every 5 minutes. For the last 3 years iv been a student and my days were just spent between pub / internet.
I even gave up smoking 4 days ago (after being a smoker for 5 years) and thats been easy - im more worried about the fact i wont be able to check the internet every 5 minutes when i start work.
I went to a mates birthday party on saturday and at dinner was really hyper as i mentioned i had just got hold of an unsigned beejoir lv child. Obviously nobody knew what i was talking about

I have found the key isn't so much that you slow down the purchasing, as you learn the key that any good art collector understands as a cardinal rule...
