as you can see, this auction ended just over 3 weeks ago, on the same day the same seller had a beautifully framed harajuku which sold for (i think) ยฃ2400, and as you can see above, save my soul went for ยฃ1200
When these prints sold they were good prices, but the other day a save my soul ended at ยฃ2250 and a harajuku for ยฃ4200. Also there was a big hoo ha about a forum member spending ยฃ2500 on a JD. Considering there has been nothing happening in the world of micallef, everyone knew about the british museum tour and the LA show ages ago, no new print releases. nothing.
All that happened to fuel this fire was micallefs dried up a bit on ebay. for a couple of weeks nothing appeared, the flippers had flipped, so when they came up again people paid more for them. less than a month ago people were GASPING at JD selling for over a grand, now look at it.
I think the next artist who this will happen to is Adam Neate. His prints got past the ยฃ2300 mark, then slipped back to ยฃ1700 ish, but now the fact that they are drying up a bit, along with his new show in august happening will combine to push the prints past ยฃ3000 by the end of august. This is my prediction, you just wait and see how wrong i will probably be!!

There was a framed MWIH at kill your heroes for 4.5k i asked the sales girl why it was this and she said coz of the LA show, tried to tell her that the la show was still about last week when they were selling at 2.5k . Only thing i got out of her was the reasurance that ill never own one now

I love his work which is why I've gone out and bought all his prints - yes c.ยฃ2,000 each may be a lot now but the last time I dithered I missed out on Micallef, the time before Banksy, the time before I slowly watched POW sell out of Banksy prints one at a time...

good prediction Verbal and yes I'd say likely to happen, mix Neate's undoubted talent, mass appeal and the low number of prints available and you've got a hot bed for price rises..wish I could afford paved with gold love that one
