radio 4 soon, by alderevans2007 on Jun 8, 2007 13:00:46 GMT 1, They were saying that banksy had copyrighted all of his images on his site because he was fed up of people printing them off and putting them on ebay.
People buying prints for profit and investment was also given a quick mention.
It was mostly about bringing art to the streets, legality bla bla bla...
It was quite interesting I guess.

radio 4 soon, by andrewd on Jun 8, 2007 20:10:20 GMT 1, I caught most of it, I've tried to get www.banksy.co.uk you a few times today to see about the copyright issue but the site is down. I can see the problem, though, not only have you got those chancers selling home/factory made Banksy canvasses, sometime soon banksyknockoffprintsetc.co.uk will start to issue 'reruns of the old skool' Banksy prints, in large editions and charge a lot of money for them polluting the legitimate market. I see why Banksy made his original decision about copyright and it was the right one in the circumstances. Things have changed. I doubt he will stop the 'shop' on his site which allows you to print off an image. What do you all think?

radio 4 soon, by dave313perry on Jun 8, 2007 20:22:38 GMT 1, I think that creating replicas on a small scale is ok, and to be expected and just emphasises admiration and the iconic status of the images, its like replica football shirts you see all over poorer countries, its their only option but shows their interest and understanding and willingness to be a part of something, and has no bearing on the selling of shirts via the club, it is simply a section of the market that is otherwise uninhibited by the club, however large scale flooding of the marketplace with exact replicas is BAD BAD BAD this is where there are scams and underhand prints floating around where people in lesser knowledge get stripped of their hard earnt cash! ~I beleive that if a tribute or replica or whatever is done in the right shrine type way and cant be passed of as an original its brilliant and offers a next best thing to all us porpers! you may disagree especially if you have 20k invested in his work for fear of them being devalued by prints that cant be determined either as original or fake but i think for the moment your investments are safe! Its always an interesting one and people often have diverse opinions and usually agree to disagree! sorry if im rambling! few beers too many!
cheers Dave
