For any up and coming artists out there who are tempted by the desire to re-create, and not create, I thought why not start a list of images/icons that should be retired from future use ...enough already! : please feel free to add to this list
-Anyone or anything to do with Star Wars (seriously)
-Kate Moss
-Marilyn Monroe
-Mickey Mouse
-screaming Vietnamese children
-Jesus doing anything that is un-Jesus like (yawn)

You, yourself have just used these icons to make your argument more clear, try doing so without referring to the original icons in any way. Obviously you can't use this thread to do so. Good luck.

I was unfair and you are right to be cynical of the repetition. Although, what i was trying to comunicate (badly) was that its not necessarily the icon thats are the problem but the failure to add anything to the discussion already whilst using the icon. In a way the icons are just like words within our vocabulary, the challenge is to use the words in an interesting fashion.... Although yeah, you are right, the better challenge would be to make an interesting point without repeating yourself. Ok, in that case lets knock on the head...

i agree that some things are repepititive (sp?) but they are all done differently. saying that i'd much rather a completely original idea instead of an interesting but all ready done idea.

i dont think he did anything, it was done buy proffessional jewellers etc because he wanted it to be flawless
