art republic, by psp500 on May 31, 2007 13:02:04 GMT 1, I quite like the place. Whenever I go to Brighton, I drop in, have a look what's new, have a chat. Also they're responsible for INK_D which is quite nice.
I've only purchased kozyndan prints from them, one limited, one unlimited and everything seems fine.
Also I found out about Baldwin thanks to them, so I owe them

art republic, by streetgirl on May 31, 2007 13:34:25 GMT 1, Hey,
They seem pretty on the nut, you just have to be careful when purchasing as to whether it's an original, limited or signed print.
Psp, I was just looking at the kozyndan prints on there....don't suppose you know where I could get my hands on a bunny loves chewy print? Don't tell me, you have one.

I've been looking everywhere for the chewing bunnies, but can't find. I really want catch of the day, but also can't seem to find it anywhere. Sorry that wasn't much help

So they're adding about 40% - 50% to the ebay prices by the sounds of it.

woaa! they quoted me 150 for the framing, so that's 950 for the print! hah, bargain indeed
it was only 650 or something alike a month and a half ago!

art republic, by alvington89 on May 31, 2007 19:25:22 GMT 1, The owner Laurence is a very interesting chap to talk to and they do have some interesting pieces from time to time by relatively unknown artists, all the usual well known suspects are well represented and I think they deserve recognition for selling Banky prints in the days when his stuff was only a few quid. (Laurencehas been a supporter/reseller of POW stuff since the early days). As for the sales team, yes, when I first started going in there they did come over a bit over eager and pushy, however I wish I'd listened more to them when they were trying to get me to buy Banksy in the early days and listened less to my wife who persuaded me that there were more pressing things to spend money on!

art republic, by corblimeylimey on May 31, 2007 20:06:13 GMT 1, It perhaps was Laurence who sold me my J&J, he seemed like the boss, making the two girls run around, he was talking far too much about investment for my liking, he told me (in July 2006) that the J&J that I was buying (for £500 framed)
"I shouldn't be saying this, but in a years time it'll probably be worth £1000, and I've got another one I'm selling that for £550"

art republic, by craigf on Jun 1, 2007 21:14:57 GMT 1, I like Art Republic, I popped my art cherry there buying Bunny's Fall by Kozyndan and they also introduced me to Baldwin. Prices for Banksy are high, they had some rat prints for £995 a month back (framed) and Morons for somewhere around £1,300. Applause had just sold for a similar amount. Also the Australian girl who works there always seems to chat me up, I know it's just to get me to buy stuff, but it's fun all the same and keeps my girlfriend on her toes

art republic, by zippyblip on Jun 1, 2007 21:44:31 GMT 1, I'm a fan, was in there yesterday and was very sorry to hear about the breakins.
Sure they charge more then the 'bay but I guess selling though a shop, with the associated overheads and tax (which I'm sure most ebayers dont pay on their profilts), will quickly eat into the margins - and its great to be able to see the art for 'real'.
Bought my reaper there for a grand last summer. yep overpaid at the time, but I love it - and its still looking to be the smartest investment I ever made. ;D
