Questions about 'Kate', by lesroy on May 20, 2007 19:07:53 GMT 1, I heard a very strange comment from someone the other day (very important in the art world - apparently)... they said, if the Banksy / Street art bubble bursts, Kate will be the only piece that survives the fall.
I hope we never find out and I hope Mr B remains king for years to come, I love the way his pieces are sooo recognisable and appeal to people from ALL walks of life.
Mr B for Prime Minister?!

Questions about 'Kate', by snakes on May 20, 2007 19:16:59 GMT 1, Still dont like her!
..and god forbid it and banksy's bubble did burst and my very few prints that i possess did lose thier market value i would still have them hanging on my walls as i love the pictures for their image value and not their economic one.
although it would be bloody nice to pick up a 'reaper' for peanuts!
As for Mr B being PM, would certainly put a bit of colour back in Whitehall..

Questions about 'Kate', by pastiepie on May 21, 2007 2:01:59 GMT 1, Personally I don't rate Kate very highly as a print. I love the Andy Warhol original and while Kate is somewhat clever it is not all that clever or witty. I know that it is super-limited and that must be the appeal to some people. Maybe also the fact it was sold directly by Laz must give it some extra credibility. But what if say Grannies was limited to only 20 copies, would it be as highly desired? Although lets face it, if someone offered me a Kate for peanuts I wouldn't turn them down.

The Bankers & Hedge fund brigade desperate to not miss out on the associated kudos of owning a Banksy will guarantee the survival of Kate.Cannot imagine a Grannies or Morons gracing a boardroom,or a Rude Copper welcoming the guests into a Kensington living room!!. No the safe Warhol inspired image of our own iconic Kate ( which I love too )will IMO be the one that the suits will always want to own

Me too. I asked the price at Santas Ghetto 2005 and the guy downstairs told me they were ยฃ1500 each, went upstairs to pay only to find out they were ยฃ2500 which was just too much for me.

Really, I asked and was told that they were ยฃ1,500 and that despite only two of them being on show 'the rest were back at the office.' I asked the wife what she thought, she said go for it if you want to, I decided not to!! I did buy a handful of soupcans instead but thought that ยฃ1,500 was too much for a print!
