General Times for Releases?????, by rob123rob on May 15, 2007 4:16:23 GMT 1, I know that nobody knows when prints are going to be released on POW, but does anyone have a rough idea as to what time of the day they are released. I live in Canada and so far I've missed all the major POW releases of the last year because usually they are released in the middle of the night (my time). But if there was a general, rough time (Great Brittain time) when they are released, then I could set my alarm clock to that time when it seems near a new release. The only way I was able to finally get a signed Banksy was because by the time I woke up on the Morons release day the server was all messed up, and I spent the rest of my day at work hitting refresh over and over again until seven hours later when their site came back up and all the Morons were suddenly available.
What time was Morons released in the UK, and how does that translate to EST here in Canada, anyone?

they did the last banksy at around 10 am EST canada time ("3pm BST" -well someone couldnt really read a watch but...). I imagine the next one wil be similar so north american folks have a crack. Best thing to do is check the homepage in the mornin when you get up 6am, 7am etc. good luck!

I'm not pointing the finger at any particular country, merely saying that when POW released the last print the time was to accommodate the US buyers. I feel it would be better if POW released at 1 specific time during the day............oh and let me know personally 1 hour beforehand on the day ;D

but seriously is it best for POW to give out a release time? remember the Morons bunfight? it was no better than the Applause, Grannies etc chaos and site crashes. Looking at the Paul Insect release yesterday which was out of the blue perhaps it's best just to release them and those who hear the word first, typically members of forums such as this who are for the most part interested in the art, get in first?

I’d imagine they will do it the same as before. With “the art world” paying attention to banksy, I’m sure there is pressure from all ends. i am sure you are aware that they were meant to have been sold at 3pm UK time and the site crashed in minutes. When the site went back on line it was the middle of the night hence why there are so many in the States.
There is no such time as a time for collectors and a time for baggers as they are equally keen to snap up prints at any time of the day.
Its about as fair as it can be ;- fastest finger first etc,
just works better when the website does not go into meltdown.
