BANKSY BRIGHTON CLUB, by matbat on May 10, 2007 22:12:49 GMT 1, Casting my mind back a few years i seem to remember Banksy Spraying Artwork allover the Ocean Rooms in Brighton. And i mean all over.
It was inside and out so he was obviously paid to do it. Can anyone else remember this and do you have any pics?

Absolutely right. The place was full of the stuff i was told, no pictures i'm afraid (may be able to source some)
The owner (dont think its fair to expose him here) whom i have had a drink or two with in the past decided to redecorate and did so through out.

i'm interested myself, so i will make couple of calls tomorrow and see if i can turn up a few snaps. There has to be a record of it some where. 
i was told he was commisioned to do it by the owner.
Unfortunately it was redecorated just as i moved down there about 6 years ago so
i never saw any of it. 
There are more Brightonians on here that may know more....

Rows of Laugh Now Monkeys behind the bar. A large Punk Angel on the swing doors and various other bits. Some real classics! Most of them would have been impossible to remove when the place was refurbished. And, at the time they weren't really worth enough to go through the hassle of trying to preserve them.
I too know the owner a little, but haven't really discussed the whole thing with him. I think he's probably kicking himself now and really don't want to rub it in. Though would imagine he's got a few special items tucked away.
