Bored, by dmandpenfold on May 18, 2007 13:55:02 GMT 1, Well even though there are 30+ members online around about now, bugger all seems to be going on so in a moment of mindless boredom i did a survey of members online and have found a shocking truth....
5 out of 10 Banksy.info members are lurkers!!
One has even been a member since Oct06 and not posted a thing, what does this all mean (apart from i have a sad fixation for statistics and will never leave home), well nothing really...
Discuss

Bored, by dave313perry on May 18, 2007 14:05:24 GMT 1, and their probably reading this message now thinking damn the bugger are onto us! bleeding baggers! let me tell you i think this forum is a major catalyst to aiding the baggers and flippers. when a hint of a banksy is to be released, get on the forum, view the recent posts and wait for someone to annonuce the info, way more efficient than looking for yourself. im not really complaining but would be an idea to delete non participating members who obviously use the forum for one thing!

Bored, by tittytata on May 18, 2007 14:09:10 GMT 1, Well, this is my first post. Although I've been reading messages here for the last few months, and have enjoyed being a voyeur, I do so mainly from work so I don't always have time to post replies. My previous excuse was that I wasn't registered, but I did so today. Its Friday after all! What else do I have to do?

Bored, by Strange Al on May 18, 2007 14:11:29 GMT 1, Given that there are 3500+ members and probably less than 50 that post regularly, I would suggest that the lurker percentage is far higher than your straw poll would suggest.
Plenty of people lurk for reasons other than bagging - I've done it in the past. I therefore don't think banning non-posters is necessarily the answer, but an interesting suggestion.
I do think the guest function could be removed. At least that way people are forced to log in if they want to read the most recent posts and it may offer a bit more transparency.

Bored, by tittytata on May 18, 2007 14:15:18 GMT 1, I actually quite like the guest function. Speaking as someone who used it for the past few months. Because I use several different computers, at least the guest function allows one to read and quickly get up to speed on gossip, etc without having to login each time. Okay, I'm lazy, I know....

Don't get me wrong, I like the guest function too and I do use it. Though, I definitely think getting rid of it would lead to more transparency. I'm very intrigued to see how many different members actually regularly use the forum as a source of information and never post.

Yes, there is this issue of non-posting members. I wonder how we get to the bottom of this. The forum is only as good as the contributions to it. Its one of the reasons I formally signed up because one can't always take, one must also give.

me neither, this thread started out of boredom, but it's got a discussion going. Most people will find something to comment on once they have become a little more comfortable with their surroundings, the first post is the most difficult, it get's easier from there on in
