Fingers on your buzzers please.... , by dkla on Apr 30, 2007 0:12:39 GMT 1, For me it's this one by Bast: Molotov Cocktail Made back in 2001, was way ahead of the game. Was seen blasted all over the world around that time (and still if you're lucky). Was highly influential (in the street art scene) in regards to the style of juxtaposing two or more images from pop culture to create new meaning. Even Banksy gives Bast big props.

It's a great image, have the POW version, wish it was this colour version tho. Have often thought of colouring it in as "only" ยฃ19.99... ;D

wow.. great question
Stencils
Pablo Fiasco : Typewriter (tap tap tap) Incredible technique, subject matter of typewriter resonates with my love of books and desire to write one, this stencil looks like it would take as long to cut as to write a book. And the text above it, Tap, Tap, Tap ties it into the graf "writers" use of the letter as an art form. Complex/Simple, brilliant.
Meek : I don't want your coins, I want change ! What a simply stunning idea..well executed and bang on the money.
El Chivo : Firestarter Reminds me of myself as a kid, that feeling of being alone and solitary but also deeply involved, also learning through destroying things, like all kids do. Neglected kids especially, feels really poetic. ( used to be a bit of a childhood arsonist)
Blek : Joseph Beuys first time I saw a street artist reference a proper artist, made me realise that these guys dont operate in a vacuum and that their references are much wider than the NYC school of hip hop graffiti.
Recently, I think Rene Gagnon's "Suicide Bomber" is excellent. Combination of the USA's ingrained fear of Isalm, terror and ironically, zero tolerance graffiti ;-) also the "Bombing" reference to both graf and the war on terror.. very smart !

Who says this forum has no room for discussion?? ;D
Your picks sound really interesting, nu... any chance you can provide some pics or links? Would really like to see them! I think the only one I'm familiar with is the El Chivo one...
So you have this problem with starting fires, huh...
