Help Please Is This Real?, by chrisp50 on Apr 23, 2007 16:27:35 GMT 1, Hi guys i wonder if you can help me out, i have recentley gone out on a limb and purchased a paper storage box, this was bought by a friend from a closed down news agents near waterloo, he bought it for storage at his shop, But once the billposters was cleared off of this there was what i believe to be a Banksy rat? .
Can anybody help?

Help Please Is This Real?, by corblimeylimey on Apr 23, 2007 16:36:49 GMT 1, Couldn't say for sure, so I won't, just a few observations though, the box looks pretty new and so does the rat, I can't see much sign of wear & tear or the effects of having posters stuck to it and being scrapped off, and I'm not sure about the white outline in places.

If it did come from Waterloo then Banksy sprayed up an awful lot of these type of structures around waterloo a few years ago. You would be best asking Thugs, Moffla or Police aware on the ebay group. They really do know their stuff about this sort of thing.

The height may be something to do with it being next to something or there being something on the side of it up to that height in it's original location?

The tail looks thicker, there is no strap around the rats neck and the rat is facing a different way to the one in wall and peice. There is one in extistencilism that is facing this way, but looks thinner and the white paint behind the black does seem a little strange.
finally the print of this does actually have no strap and is facing the right way....

Also, this looks like a two layer stencil, the white highlights look really off, if you were cutting this as a 2 layer, then you'd fill out all, the parts that show the background. i.e, you'd make it black and white. A far as I know, the rat stencils are single layer, black, designed for quick hits.
