Why oh why...., by kingdomcome on Apr 3, 2007 11:36:41 GMT 1, I was strolling thru Chalk Farm area in London the other and came across the Bansky there by the tube station.
Its been scrawled all over and the face looks like its been scratched out with a stone or a something...
Why cant people appreciate good art when they see it? Whats the point of destroying it? Why cant they just let the weather allow it to fade away.......

Why oh why...., by tadghostal on Apr 3, 2007 21:46:29 GMT 1, It wasn't painted over. I bought 100 little eggs of silly putty, packed them into a single, huge wad of the stuff and then simply applied the sheet to that elephant image. Presto! It lifted right off without any trouble--didn't even have to bust out the concrete saw this time. It was great!
A few small problems I'm trying to resolve just yet. First, the elephant image is reversed from the original now. Second, the tag says 'ysknaB.' And last, how do you keep silly putty from drying out? I'm really afraid the image will flake away someday in the future.
Nah, just kidding. I wouldn't grab a street piece. But isn't it the nature of graff to be temporary? I thought that was part of the fun. Enjoy it while you can! And the best part--you never know when something new will suddenly appear and catch your fancy.

was sad when it got painted over, but such is the nature of streetart.

Lower Haight, San Francisco. this was on Haight St between Filmore and Webster. Filmore Street is where the Upper Playground and FIFTY24SF shops are at.

I know Matilda
I dunt like to do it, but I need to do stuff for the sake of everyone on the forum, and not just for the few We have over 3,000 members!
If I ran this forum in just the way a small group would like it to be done, we would still only have about 500 members. This place is not about feeding peoples egos just coz they think they know a bit about Banksy Its about helping people, sharing information and making new friends ;D
Respect System - I realize we have had some trouble in that area over the last few weeks, but I have tracked down a few people that where abusing the system, and they have now been removed from the forum. I also know that some people are against the whole thing Now I think this is a little strange coz I can see that the people that wanted it scraped actually use it the most
Im in a very difficult position here, but things aint gone so bad on here so far, so I cant be doing too much wrong now can I?

Why oh why...., by Daniel Silk on Apr 9, 2007 0:24:50 GMT 1, Sorry Just one more thing
The respect System is working pretty well coz many of the people that are against its existence are the people that do seem to like letting off a bit of steam on here shall we say They know that they cant get away with it coz they will get scored down by other members, not me! ;D I might be Admin, but its the people that make the decisions on who is fair, helpful, kind, understanding. All I can do is make sure the system is not being abused by anyone, and then the rest comes down to all 3,000+ members ;D they moderate this forum by themselves! ;D I dunt think you would find may forums online with this many members that only has one Admin/Moderator and who does so little in the way of moderation ;D

you say the forum moderates itself...that is utter shite as your actions have clearly proven.
if it did moderate itself the whole discussion and its authors would still be here.
...still, I guess this place is called the darkside for a reason

They were not banned coz I disagreed with anything my views dunt come in to the decision We have been over this sort of thing many times in the past, long before many of you were on this forum. Talking for myself - Any decisions made on the running of this forum are made in a very very simple way, What is best for the general happiness, and continued growth of the forum.

ahhh come on!
This forum does moderate itself The number of times you see people getting worried about how they have lost a couple of respect points coz of something they have said. Everyone knows if they step out of line, you can have over twenty people online at that point that could wipe out ya respect score just like that Anyway, surly Im the only person that can say if much moderating goes on, coz Im the one that does it At times over Christmas, the forum went for weeks at a time with me not even going online! and everything was fine ;D

I think it does run its self mostly, but I feel you've banned two vital members of the forum , isn't knowledge a main factor of this board?, without it, it isnt a very good place to get advice needed when tough decision's are to be made. I know we have 3000 members but be honest only a handful post and contribute, without them it would be a forum of lurkers.
