BBC Edwardian season, by Octopus UK on Apr 1, 2007 19:22:04 GMT 1, I've just seen a trailer for a series on the BBC on, basically, how things really haven't changed and a lot of "what goes on now", also happened in Edwardian times (100 years ago). To illustrate this they had (moving) Edwardian images but inserted some modern references. The trick was to spot them. For example in a busy Edwardian street scene with lots of bicycles and horse drawn omnibuses there was a pizza delivery motorbike; on another street scene there was a white van; in a crowd of street urchins was a kid in a modern football kit and in a line of Edwardian teenagers a few hoddies. The piece was done well, with the moderm image blending well with the archive footage.
What I'd like to know is, has anyone you know of produced prints of a similar nature? Where at first glance everything looks fine but a double take reveals an anomily (a bit like an episode of "Sapphire and Steel" for the more vintage of us). A bit Banksy-ish but not really the same thing.

It is an Edwardian scene and I think it is set at an auction, loads of people bidding on a picture. But the modern bit is that it has a word written on the canvas that Edwardians wouldn't use - s*it. However, this print is impossible to get hold of thanks to the cack handed IT system that the gallery used to sell it. Oh yes folks...still bitter

I admit the idea is a bit like Banksy but the mixing of old and new is what I'm interested in. "Morons" and "Trolley" probably work on this level for me so I hope I manage to capture a trolley. Hmm.

Is Morons Edwardian? I've only seen this image on the POW site and I'm almost sure that the members of the audience (with their backs to us) are comptemporary (womens hair styles) - the people stood at the front and facing us look formal but it could be modern day formal. Perhaps someone who is lucky to have one could give me their opinion? Banksy prints do contain incongruities but the two (or more) aspects which are mixed are usually all modern - except for Trollies.
I have two "sepia" signed prints from Ray Harryhausen and these are a mixture of dinosaurs, cave/indigenous men and a modern man. Not quite the intent at hiding an anomily but close to what I'm looking for.
