London is cleaning up on Banksy!, by mammal2 on Mar 18, 2007 19:39:08 GMT 1, Went for a walk around London. Loads of Banksy are know gone. Girl with Balloon on New North Road buffed. Smiley copper on Vestry Street gone. Unless Banksy gets his ass out around London soon I see it all slowly being buffed away into history. Plenty of really shite ElbowToe street art and great Faile - Already been cut out of wall. Banksy if you read this get out there and make London beautiful again.

it's like putting lipstick on a pig.

London is cleaning up on Banksy!, by stenz1 on Mar 21, 2007 13:27:24 GMT 1, what do you guys think about approaching the council to make sure the graffitti removalists don't keep buffing valuable (at least culturally) art?

Bristol CC have taken that approach, however I don't see how you can protect the smaller pieces which people don't necessarily know about - there's a Barcode just around the corner from my office which has had some paint splashed on it in the last month or two (not too serious luckily, just on the bottom corner)
We need to get Banksy back to Bristol to start giving us some fresh stuff rather than just another fecking PrisonPlanet tag

London is cleaning up on Banksy!, by stenz1 on Mar 21, 2007 15:29:09 GMT 1, Maybe if the graffiti removalist contractors, were aware of what was banksy work, ie, through Martin's book, then they would know to leave it...........................................I think I read somewhere that southwark council had issued a list of banksy's to their contractors, of which weren't to be removed.........................
