Provenance, by poofly on Feb 27, 2007 22:45:31 GMT 1, Evening all,
I have 3 soup cans, one of which is an A/P which I bought off of eBay last year. I've contacted POW about provenance but i've had no reply.
Whats the deal with the provenance? I have all names and contact details of who I bought them off, do POW update who now has them?
How has anyone else got provenance from POW?

Provenance, by slowmo on Feb 27, 2007 22:53:13 GMT 1, Unfortunately the only way to get provenence on your prints was to have a history, so when you bought the prints you should have asked for the history of them as well, like receipts and letters of authenticity.
I would try getting in touch with the people you bought them from for receipts as I doubt POW would be able to help. That said, you can say you bought them from ebay and that is sort of provenence from when you bought it, show the receipt on how much you paid for it (bank statement) and that traces it to the point you acquired it.
If its an artists proof it is more likely to have come from LAZ ordinarily, if you have the sellers name, try and get in touch with them.

Provenance, by tomhills1 on Feb 27, 2007 22:54:46 GMT 1, they only keep the names of the original purchasers and do not update as each respective print gets sold on. when you buy a second-hand print ,so to speak, you should get a receipt from the seller and also the receipt they recieved when they bought the print. if they are the original purchaser but do not have a receipt this can be checked by POW. get them to send you the name of the registered buyer as an email, print it out and keep it safe. that's my advice.
