Vandalising Valdalism, by Mobu on Feb 13, 2007 16:41:08 GMT 1, For all those of you who apprciate Banksy's art I wanted to inform you of what I saw yesterday where I said to myself "whoever did that, you bas*!rd"
Banks's Famous tag on the railway bridge coming into bristol from the M32, someone has sprayed WRONG over it.
Not sure what motivates someone to do this, but its a real shame and I always thought it represented bristol as banksy territory.
I would be insterested to hear some thoughts.

Vandalising Valdalism, by absyrd on Feb 13, 2007 16:49:51 GMT 1, It is going to happen no matter what you do. It sucks. So on and so forth.
At least put a little thought into it rather than just splash it.
If it offends someone that much or they disagree with the message, they should have to at least support why by creating something equally or greater in meaning.

Vandalising Valdalism, by saltandiron on Feb 13, 2007 17:18:17 GMT 1, I think that part of the beauty of street art is that it is all fair game. Its tranistory and subject to the whim of one person and a spray can. No one asked for Banksy to put it up there, no one asked for that guy to spray over it. Reminds me not to take anything for granted as these things do go. Gives it all an urgency that some gallery based stuff (of all styles) doesn't have.
That said, I'd prefer it if they had left it, but then thats just me.

Vandalising Valdalism, by tomhills1 on Feb 13, 2007 17:19:10 GMT 1, all part of the process, the writers that are the most active will be the most visible. all pieces have a finite lifespan, you got to get out there and keep doing your thing. as time goes on his work will become more and more rare, it's about time he got back out there and put his name on the street.

Vandalising Valdalism, by absyrd on Feb 13, 2007 17:25:11 GMT 1, I haven't seen any Banksy stuff in person, but I have seen how people like Swoon and Faile go back to some of their work that gets tagged or splashed and incorporate the colors or shape into their new piece over the top. That is damn hot.
