Glastonbury vs ebay, by lesroy on Jan 10, 2007 23:14:30 GMT 1, I think the pic is overkill for POW but you should have to register at POW and have an "Account"... then you log in, buy what you want... people selling immediately on day on will have account suspended etc.

Glastonbury vs ebay, by pastiepie on Jan 11, 2007 1:18:28 GMT 1, wow that is pretty insane. I think it would be easier to forge a British Passport than a Glastonbury ticket now. I think it is a fair thing to do, but with POW it's a bit different because your not trying to get in anywhere. I think they need to embed all prints with GPS transmitters and you have to specify the co-ordinates of your house. If it goes outside of a 1km radius then it will self-destruct.

Glastonbury vs ebay, by Run Pig Run on Jan 11, 2007 18:45:42 GMT 1, fuck me! Glastonbury is a million miles away from what it started out as, I bet it's all gonna be public school kids and celebs. I can't see many travellers logging on to the internet and submitting credit card details and photos. what load of shit, i'd rather pay ยฃ750 on ebay.

Glastonbury vs ebay, by corblimeylimey on Jan 11, 2007 19:26:51 GMT 1, Glastonbury was usually just after the Free Stonehenge festival, and any travellers from there were welcome, buses and all for free, infact I think a field was set aside for them. My memories of Glastonbury and Stonehenge in the mid eighties are slighty erm hazy(can't think why ) but I think I had a great time.
Like all the people who have been earlier will say, it's just not as good any more....moan moan, Actually I may go again, but I may regret it.
P.S. Glastonbury Vs ebay..... I'll take Glastonbury thanks.

Glastonbury vs ebay, by headphonesex on Jan 11, 2007 23:47:29 GMT 1, i've been to almost every glastonbury for the last 15 years.
and it's a bit different now, but still a thousand times better than any other festival.
a bit of the 'edge' has gone... but to be honest a lot of the side effects of the 'edge' were things like getting your tent ransacked by theiving scallys every night.
the people are a bit different now, but it's still the best party anywhere.

Glastonbury vs ebay, by gbh on Jan 12, 2007 0:05:12 GMT 1, last glastonbury I went to was in the late 80's. (or was it early 90's?)
I do remeber I had a good time, not much else. Perhaps I saw The Orb playing.
The one thing that does stand out in my memory was a guy sitting by the side of the road with a chef's knife, a chopping board and a block of hash about 12" x 12" x 2" chopping of bits for passers by. There was a copper standing right next time him, chatting to people. All cool. Craziest thing I have ever seen. Then again, I could of just been imagining it, microdots were killer that year.

Glastonbury vs ebay, by mido on Jan 12, 2007 4:16:35 GMT 1, EVERYTHING is a long way from what it started out as....
glastonbury...
POW...
Obey...
also me, you, & most people probably...
It's all a piece of shit One thing that makes me a grumpy young/old man is the reduction of spontaneity in the world. we have to buy tickets to everything months in advance, electricity is cheaper on direct debit, flights are cheaper in advance.... the death of just turning up and getting into things
it's all arse as a friend says

Glastonbury vs ebay, by saltandiron on Jan 12, 2007 11:15:16 GMT 1, Isn't that the way with everything? but then the thing to remember is that glastonbury isn't the only festival, POW isn't the only place to buy prints, banksy isn't the only artist around. I think we get the world we deserve. Its 'our' (and I don't me yours and mine specifically, none of this is aimed directly at you) own fault by not looking around and out there for the alternatives, or even going crazy and just doing it ourselves however we want.
this obviously doesn't apply to your point about electricity being cheaper by direct debit!
