Banksy Lotto, by saffa on Nov 20, 2006 15:03:41 GMT 1, I know a lot has been said about the best possible way to sell the prints, etc, but wouldn't a lotto system be the easiest and fairest way of doing it.
like entering the london marathon. you have certain time period to submit your details, all details in a hat and X amount of places. Luck of the draw.
The same system would work prefectly for the Banksy prints. It maybe a little more work for POW, but it could be done during normal hours, people that don't sit in front of a pc everyday have a chance and nobody can shout at POW.
anyone think that would solve the problem?

Banksy Lotto, by stingray on Nov 20, 2006 15:09:40 GMT 1, I agree. Thit is the only option if you want to keep the prices artificially low. They do this for tickets to Wimbledon and it seems to work fine. Also, if you still did manage to get one it would make it feel all the more special.
The only other alternative is to raise the prices to their market value. Perhaps the extra revenue gained could be used to help fund young British artists.

Banksy Lotto, by Deleted on Nov 21, 2006 10:42:52 GMT 1, I back this idea too - especially considering it would allow some overseas guys like myself and mr bacardi to have an equal chance of getting some. When Applause went up, it was midnight Australian time, and I was up till 4AM on a work night

Banksy Lotto, by Curley on Nov 21, 2006 13:16:08 GMT 1, Sorry guys, just to put a spanner in you idea, i dont agree with that at all. People will always find a way of getting their names entered a multiple number of times, i could ask 20/30 friends to put their names in for me and so could you. People who make money from these prints would be laughing there socks off.
First come first served i best and only way as far as i am concerned. Everyone has an equal chance if they put the effort in. What effort is there to a lottery, prints would end up in the hands of more scalpers than fans.

Banksy Lotto, by saffa on Nov 21, 2006 17:43:06 GMT 1, at least it's still left to chance and not to someone who has access to a PC all day. You would have to give your address details etc. and supply a payment method.
I don't have may friends that would commit to giving such details or spending such an amount to do me a favour. What a mission trying to explain.

Banksy Lotto, by Curley on Nov 21, 2006 18:07:37 GMT 1, haha. I know where you coming from but when you need a favour............
A lottery is just so open to abuse by those less scrupulous than our selves. After these prints i dont think he will sell like this again. I think it will be smaller more expensive runs through Laz like the Soup tins. Maybe its time for an unlimited poster (as much as i am against it)

Banksy Lotto, by Deleted on Nov 22, 2006 3:59:16 GMT 1, Would it make it better to have pre-registered details stored at PoW? So you pre-register with name, delivery address and credit card details, which would miss all those subsequent pages where the timeouts occured last time. If people have more than one credit card, then yes, open to abuse, but i would suggest that its a lot harder to get your friends to agree to let you use their credit cards for an AUD1000-1500 purchase, rather than letting you use their email address. At MOST people would have like 3-4 cards they could use, and the majority would have like 1 or 2. If nothing else, pre-registering would get people in and out quicker.
