Art File, by manchestermike on Oct 30, 2006 17:46:14 GMT 1, I don't really want to have to keep my pictures I don't have wall space for currently in their tubes, but I need to keep them somewhere, so can anyone recommend an art file or something similar (and where to get one from) to keep them in?
Thanks in advance

Art File, by lesroy on Oct 30, 2006 18:03:44 GMT 1, I too want to know this!!
I have a handmade one... two pieces of board with masking tape making them into a gate sleeve stylee... filled with POW acid free tissue paper (and prints)....
But Id like a protective, acid free A1 size file that allows me to see my prints (and decide what next to spend ยฃ80 on framing!!).

I've seen people carrying around these giant folders as portfolios, which should work for your prints. Architects frequently used large pieces of paper, so a store that sells architect supplies should be a safe bet.

Art File, by irf2112 on Oct 30, 2006 21:28:22 GMT 1, I had a friend who put some art in plastic sleeves, which were in for quite a while. Unfortunately the colour of one of the prints stuck to the plastic when he took it out effectively ruining the print. I know rolls aren't the way to go, but the plastic sleeves 'scare' me. Has anybody any experience with plastic sheets that dont do the above? If so, where were they purchased from?

Perhaps put something in between the print and the plastic, such as that white paper that comes with every POW print?
And store in a cool and dry place. Actually, the colder, the better... museum archives can usually double as cryogenic labs.

Art File, by senna on Oct 30, 2006 22:03:17 GMT 1, good evening....i've had many of my prints in an ARTCARE A1 portfolio for several years on & off. they are all in perfact condition. i would recommended the thicker (sold as professional rather than student) sleeves. best kept flat.... there are some available on the bay.peace.

Art File, by irf2112 on Oct 30, 2006 23:00:45 GMT 1, on other forums when it comes to useful stuff we usually organise a group buy. If we get enough people together we can get a better price. So who's up for a group buy?? - actually hold on the first thing we need is a store with a good product.... Bottom line is we can dictate a better price with a large quanitity order anywhere we go... My name is in... Actually a senior group member should collect names and select a product (from their 'vast experience). Any volunteers?
