Banksy Record Sales?, by lesroy on Sept 18, 2006 8:36:04 GMT 1, We'd all love to see the pics I'm sure! Thanx!
I'd imagine, and I'm no expert, that your signed canvas would be worth between £8000 - £10,000 over here in england. Maybe alot more...
The way prices are going up I htink that figure will only get bigger, especially as its only now that the americans are starting to get interested in his work.
You lucky buggar!

Banksy Record Sales?, by Daniel Silk on Sept 18, 2006 10:16:38 GMT 1, Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum but it's great to see the passion for B's work. I'm an American who's been into Banksy for a minute now. I attended, I believe, his first US show in LA in 2002 where I was fortunate to pick up a 'Love Is In The Air' canvas signed and numbered 5 of 5. It's been my joy and I'm kicking myself for not putting up the money for other pieces. The prices were ridiculous...got mine for $250. Anyway, I haven't kept up on the Banksy tip for a few years now and was ASTOUNDED to see some of the prices his work is going for! I would never (well, at least until my kids need some schooling I guess and that's 18 years down the line) sell it but wondered: 1) What do you think my canvas is going for these days? I saw some site was selling a simlar "Love Is In...' that was one of 15 (must be from UK show) for $14,000. Can that be right? 2) Where do you guys think Banksy will level off? Are we looking Basquiat, Warhol prices down the line? I know a lot of things come into play (him being outed or quitting doing shows etc.) I also worked for a company here in NY called 555 Soul where Banksy completely re-did the interior in 2002. I'll see if I can find pics for you.
Firstly, Welcome to the forum ;D
Your a very lucky chap I guess it would depend on the size of the canvas but your looking at well over £10,000 but going by the prizes that the pieces went for in LA who is to say that its not worth around the £50,000 mark! It sounds crazy but if it was on the wall at the show now what would the price tag be? ;D

Along similar lines, on Banksy Tours part 3 it was mentioned that he had done a stencil inside the club Fabric, anyone have evidence or seen them and can confirm?

Banksy Record Sales?, by mido on Sept 18, 2006 12:42:45 GMT 1, yeah, I said that. I have a friend who used to go to Fabric a lot (big d'n'b head). When I told him about banksy he said there was a bomb hugger on the wall, near the toilets. I'll quiz him further!

Banksy Record Sales?, by Curley on Sept 18, 2006 14:04:17 GMT 1, This is from Fabric live promoter.
There is indeed. By the downstairs toilet. ‘I’m just coming to drop off some slides for the wall of sound visuals’ he told me. I fell for it! We then decided to put a fancy gilt frame around it

Banksy Record Sales?, by Ågent ßacardi on Sept 18, 2006 18:37:12 GMT 1, I was already a fan of Banksy before 2002, and live in LA... but heard about his first US show only 2 days after. I still kick myself in the butt to this very day. ARRGGGHHHH delphitefnut, you lucky SOB!
Y'know, I bet the prices of his work is primarily skyrocketing due to demand from his fans, whereby the supply is unfortunately coming from not-so-much-of-fans who buy them and then scalp them for ridiculous prices. It really sucks for us fans who want his work on our walls and not because we want to turn them over for a quick buck.
Bah, I'm bitter Why is it so gawd damn hard to win the lottery!?

Banksy Record Sales?, by mido on Sept 18, 2006 19:53:34 GMT 1, just make sure you don't have to cut it in 4 pieces to fit it in the box ;D
Yeah, that 2002 LA show was in Silverlake at a tiny gallery called 33 1/3. I still have the price sheet and I cry every time I look at it. I was only after 'Love is in...' at the time and was fortunate to get the last one (5 of 5.) And to top it off, now that I know my canvas is worth the price of a Mercedes, I'm about to put it in a safety deposit box in case of theft or fire. I had it hanging in my living room but am nervous about ANYTHING happening to it. Ahhh, gotta love the art world.

Maybe I should not say it but I think that Lenin canvas looked a pile of shit Sorry but the quality was bloody awful I would guess that your "Love in The Air" is much better than that so I would say its much more salable ;D

Banksy Record Sales?, by mido on Sept 19, 2006 20:02:09 GMT 1, Neckface has got a bit of publicity recently over here because several people mentioned they would try to get to all 3 exhibitions whilst in LA (banksy, neckface, Shepard fairey/obey)
is there a website for him?
So, who's the next Banksy that we can all afford? It looks like this forum is up on Eine, D*Face, Nick Walker etc...Is the UK up on NECKFACE yet? He's a street artist from Brooklyn. How about KAWS?

Banksy Record Sales?, by delphitefnut on Sept 25, 2006 23:53:45 GMT 1, For those interested, here are a few prices from that LA NeckFace show:
16" x 20" pieces: $1800 14" x 16" pieces: $1500 Haunted House: $10,000 Birth Installation: $12,000 Stickers: $1
Personally I think a bit high (although I've always wanted a NF piece) but then I got too wondering....Has the recent BANKSY explosion effected the rest of the street art world in terms of prices?

Gotta agree with this one... the $$$ at the NF's LA show were too steep for my taste. I was looking forward to get one of his pieces, but the prices just turned me off after he had a few shows that were in just 3 digit price range. Makes me wonder if the artists were trying to give their pieces a big hype to jack up the prices?
