Prints for sale with charity donation, by finsburyparkranger on Jun 30, 2007 18:24:22 GMT 1, Hello one and all,
I would like to announce that I have placed my DFACE 'fools gold' print up for Auction with 50% of the total profits going to the 'ORBIS' charity and the rest of any profits (after Ebay fee's and the ยฃ150 cost of buying the print ) going to the official SOS charity that works for disadvantaged children in bangc**k. So essentially this is a 'not for profit' sale.
The orbis donation is guaranteed by ebay and any donations to the SOS charity will hopefully be confirmed by bejoir. Is that possible Bejoir?
Orbis are a fantastic sight saving organisation that work in the developed world and prevent blindness. Here's some ideas of how your money will be spent...
* ยฃ10 allows us to distribute sight saving antibiotics to 37 children in Ethiopia * ยฃ20 pays for a sight saving cataract operation on an adult in India * ยฃ50 pays for health education and training to prevent dangerous eye infections in children in Bangladesh * ยฃ100 enables an ORBIS trained eye doctor to spend a week treating patients in poor rural areas in Vietnam
I've also gift aided the auction so the government must give 28% of whatever money is raised to orbis on top.
If you are interested in getting a Dface print please bid on this auction as you can garantee your money will make a massive difference to many peoples lives. In the spirit of 'peace', please bid generously !
Here's the link...

Prints for sale with charity donation, by finsburyparkranger on Jun 30, 2007 19:12:32 GMT 1, Oops I hope that reads how its supposed to read, the SOS charity will get all profit AFTER ยฃ150 cost for the print and ebay fee's and the orbis donation have been discluded. Maybe I need to change the wording a bit. Basically all the Profit from the sale will be donated to charity.
EDIT: Its a nice number too 15/75 !

makes sense to me mate. get back your ยฃ150 and then look at each hour you spent in line for the print as raising cash for charity. very cool!

Prints for sale with charity donation, by curiousgeorge on Jul 1, 2007 9:52:21 GMT 1, FPR, that is a cool thing to do. While i will not bidding on the auction, i'm certain i could make a donation to the very worthy cause. If you could help me by pointing me in the direction to direct donation link please PM me with it. Heck even stick it up this thread so perhaps others will know where to donate, should they so wish

Prints for sale with charity donation, by finsburyparkranger on Jul 1, 2007 10:12:18 GMT 1, Thanks george,
Any donations to 'Orbis' can be made here...
www.orbis.org.uk/bins/donation_page.asp?cid=158
I've Pm'd Bejoir to ask the best way UK or US citizens can give a donation to to HDF (human development programme). On the web site it seems its more designed for thai people to give. So info on giving to HDF is to follow.

It sure is. just to be fair here's the HDF charity page. It accepts credit card gifts and you can email to arrange other payment.
www.mercycentre.org/pledge.html
Yes its amazing how much good you can do for such little amount of money. Its also not that hard to combine a little charity gift in an ebay sale. Even 5% or 10% of sale price can really change lives and relieve that guilt of making a 100% profit on a print that was flipped after a couple of days because on seeing it for real, you decided it wasn't your thing.

Prints for sale with charity donation, by finsburyparkranger on Jul 2, 2007 10:04:05 GMT 1, Jesus ebay have pulled the charity print for copyright violations for using some of someones elses text or image in the description. Ok I'm a bit new to all this and didn't realise that you cant copy and paist other people's text to save time. I'll write up another description and see if that works. I presume i can use the same image of the 'fools gold' prints hanging in the studio? Does anyone know?

Prints for sale with charity donation, by bobbyt23 on Jul 2, 2007 10:16:01 GMT 1, Is it worth contacting e-bay to ask exactly why.
Doesn't someone normally have to complain for them to take action and pull a listing?

yeah - somebody has to complain. it has happened to me before where sellers would wait until a couple of hours before to bump up the price of their own auction.
it is most likely the text which is the problem but if it is the same text and image and the seller can demonstrate that they put it up first then they can do that.
despite the fact that the image came from d*face you could have this problem again. ebay will not respond with any more than a standard e-mail. it's their way unfortunately.
well done fpr have a +1 on me...

Prints for sale with charity donation, by finsburyparkranger on Jul 2, 2007 13:02:04 GMT 1, Ok I've cropped photo's and edited the blurb so no copyright card can be used to stop the auction and set it to start again at 7.30pm tonight to give it the best chance of a good sale (finishing monday evening).
Here's the link...
cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250138473232
Trying to stop an auction that will help a blind person get the necessary operation to make them see again is pretty damn low. Feeling a bit angry about that one.
