Sepia Sale, by Mobu on Jun 2, 2007 19:19:57 GMT 1, I paid enough for it and to be honest, it is an irrelevant question. I wish all Banksy's were a lot cheaper so that I could buy the really nice ones, but reality is that they aren't. Prices go up and this is the market.
I just want to know if anyone is interested as I am trying to raise funds for my better half's part of the mortgage.

Sepia Sale, by Mobu on Jun 2, 2007 22:34:43 GMT 1, That might be true but I am also a true collector, but a collector also has mortgage, bills, debt to pay so I have to let go of a piece. Since this is a piece I am not emotionally attached to since it has not been framed and hung, it's gotta go.
If you are a true collector, you should be willing to pay the market rate for the print. Its the only way to get your hands on one these days and believe me, I know about this.

Sepia Sale, by finsburyparkranger on Jun 2, 2007 23:55:59 GMT 1, Since this is a piece I am not emotionally attached to Mo
I get the feeling Morons is a piece many people have failed to become emotionally attached too. I would be very uncertain at shelling out top dollar on this one. I think in time we may actually see this as being one of the least fashionable Banksy prints. A print we are all proud that was made but preferring it was hung on some else's wall.
However sorry to poo poo your sale moritzbuesch. I'm sure it will be worth more than ยฃ2900 next year, just sharing my recent thoughts.

I respectfully, completely disagree - I think Morons has the potential to be one of Banksy's most 'defining' images. It captures the absurdity of the art market - and is even more ironic because a fairly anti-establishment artist is now selling in the top auction houses and he never intended for it to turn out that way.
If people have failed to become emotionally attached to it it is because: 1. They are still bitter they didn't get one (this happens with every print release btw) or 2. They have a hard time laughing at themselves - because at the end of the day almost every person on here is a moron who has bought s**t.

Sepia Sale, by curiousgeorge on Jun 3, 2007 10:10:07 GMT 1, I checked the completed listings last night, and for the six that i saw, not one appeared to be genuine. No feedback left on any of them(as of last night) sellers changing names/no longer registered users.
I guess some people see what they wish to see

Sepia Sale, by dave313perry on Jun 3, 2007 10:14:04 GMT 1, Its because of a mixture of fake sellers, and muppets targetting and tarnishing legit sales, possibly because of the flipping factor, and possibly because of the jelousy factot IMO. everything is not always as it seems with ebay but can usually give a good indication

Sepia Sale, by ABC on Jun 6, 2007 2:00:41 GMT 1, I think the bottom line is that Morons has been on Ebay in mass for a while and peple are used to seeing them. When Grannies was released the bay was flooded the same and they were the only ones up for grabs, same with Applause. It will be the same with the rest of the releases. IMO Morons is a great Image and I believe it will become one of Banksy greats. Mark my words in a few months there will be loads of flippers on here putting their new banksys, Trolleys, sale ends etc that they no longer require as it has been nearly 2 days since they acquired them, plus they are skint, so skint that they layed out ยฃ700 in the first place .

Sepia Sale, by streetgirl on Jun 7, 2007 10:58:40 GMT 1, Mixed feelings about the Sepia with respect to everything said above. I do feel it is one that will take longer for some people to become emotionally attached to Morons. It was released at a time when the Banksy exposure and awareness hit a new high, purchases were made with the explicit purpose of re-sale. I remember within minutes/hours of the release, they were on ebay. Given the opportunity, who wouldn't purchase Morons (or a print that you have less attachment to) knowing that within a short period of time, you can resell to fund a print you have more of an attachment to.
I think genuine collectors can see the print for it's worth and keep it as such. It's just not a classic...yet. Wait til his next print is released.

Sepia Sale, by ell on Jun 7, 2007 14:27:52 GMT 1, im not as keen on morons as most of Banksys other work. i love the irony of it but then that also makes me not want to fork out loads of money on it. im also not huge on the sepia version, maybe its the tone of sepia or something but its a good image to be sepia'd. if that makes sense
