DFace "Going Nowhere Fast" Corey Helford, 9th Apr, by jackcuzzy on Apr 5, 2011 22:54:29 GMT 1, The haring has kinda been produced as a print but not an edition...well it's actually a paste up, but they are screened onto sugarpaper and mainly on the street! I'd never seen one until a couple of weeks ago and was lucky enough to blag one from D*...bad iphone pics but you get the jist!

DFace "Going Nowhere Fast" Corey Helford, 9th Apr, by Deleted on Apr 6, 2011 3:15:03 GMT 1, After looking at these new pieces for a while, I've got to say for the most part I'm quietly impressed. The 'superhero' period of D's work was shockingly lame, the pieces rarely looked 'right' and the message was lost in it's crassness. In comparison his earlier O'contemp work shone and this work feels much more like a step back to go forward i.e. his gone back to his original type themes, worked them in new mediums/sizes/materials etc to make a more confident body of work.
Now it's another matter whether you're happy with a return to icon plus skull work, reworkings of classic pieces and religous artifacts turned upside down, but to my mind, he's done something worthy of consideration - which in todays urban art market place deserves a thumbs up.

DFace "Going Nowhere Fast" Corey Helford, 9th Apr, by Ruggs on Apr 6, 2011 9:07:40 GMT 1, This looks like its going to be a great show. Really impressed by some of the stuff i've seen thus far. Really liking the Lichtenstein and Warhol inspired works and those Flutterdies are utterly brilliant. Anyone seen those crazy knives? Picture of them plus more on Streetartnews.

DFace "Going Nowhere Fast" Corey Helford, 9th Apr, by jfury on Apr 6, 2011 12:54:37 GMT 1, further info from stoelnspace blog I havent read elsewhere:
On April 9, internationally-celebrated UK street artist D*Face will make his distinguished mark from the walls of Corey Helford Gallery to the streets of Hollywood with the debut of his newest exhibition of works, “Going Nowhere Fast.” One of the most prolific contemporary urban artists of his generation, D*Face has created works for a variety of notable commissions, from Penguin Books 50th Anniversary covers to a portrait of Pope Benedict XVI for The Vatican, and his works have sold at auction houses worldwide, including Christies, Sotheby’s and Bonhams. Most recently, he collaborated with pop star Christina Aguilera on the cover art for her number-one selling album Bionic. For “Going Nowhere Fast”, D*Face will unveil his most sensational solo exhibition to date, on view in Los Angeles for the first time at Corey Helford Gallery.
For “Going Nowhere Fast”, D*Face challenges society’s fascination with celebrity through his satirical exploration of fame, power and material-obsessed culture. Transforming the gallery into a multi-media vault of aPOPcalyptic new works, D*Face immortalizes the deaths of America’s most illustrious icons from Andy Warhol to Michael Jackson with an all-star milieu of new paintings, sculptures and installations. Also on display will be “Flutterdies”, an unusual sculpture series fashioned from authentic butterflies and insects combined with spray can caps that D*Face has collected over the years. “Going Nowhere Fast” will culminate with a shocking red carpet experience on opening night. Open to the public, the reception for “Going Nowhere Fast” will take place on Saturday, April 9 from 7:30 to 10pm, and the show will be on view until April 27, 2011. Following “Going Nowhere Fast”, D*Face will be a featured artist at BritWeek in Los Angeles (April 26-May 11, 2011), creating a major installation as part of its art program showcasing exceptional talent from the UK.
