The Outsiders to release Micallef print 14th April, by adewilliams on Apr 14, 2011 9:29:22 GMT 1, I would love to see a bit of hand finishing on an image like this to make each a little different. Just a wash in the background to make it a bit more special and so you don't see a half tone through out. Nice roses though.

The Outsiders to release Micallef print 14th April, by klyde on Apr 14, 2011 9:34:08 GMT 1, Love it!
However, getting married in a few months and ยฃ500 missing from the wedding fund (although tempting), isnt a good idea.
Hopefully some flippers still think its 2007 and off load on ebay in a few months for less than cost. I'll be ready then!

The Outsiders to release Micallef print 14th April, by connecta1 on Apr 14, 2011 11:02:19 GMT 1, "too creepy/contrasted with flowers/sinister/sick/too dark"
...take a look around his website, would love to know what some of you lot were expecting!?
It's different from previous prints for sure... but love the departure from the starker black and white/charcoal stuff, much more like one of his lavishly layered paintings.
Plus, massive size with 20 colours and 2 glazes.... you just know it's going to be even more jaw-dropping in the flesh.

The Outsiders to release Micallef print 14th April, by G-Man on Apr 14, 2011 12:53:46 GMT 1, Persephone is the goddess of the underworld in Greek mythology. She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, goddess of the harvest. Persephone was such a beautiful young woman that everyone loved her, even Hades wanted her for himself. One day, when she was collecting flowers on the plain of Enna, the earth suddenly opened and Hades rose up from the gap and abducted her. None but Zeus, and the all-seeing sun, Helios, had noticed it.
Broken-hearted, Demeter wandered the earth, looking for her daughter until Helios revealed what had happened. Demeter was so angry that she withdrew herself in loneliness, and the earth ceased to be fertile. Knowing this could not continue much longer, Zeus sent Hermes down to Hades to make him release Persephone. Hades grudgingly agreed, but before she went back he gave Persephone a pomegranate (or the seeds of a pomegranate, according to some sources). When she later ate of it, it bound her to underworld forever and she had to stay there one-third of the year. The other months she stayed with her mother. When Persephone was in Hades, Demeter refused to let anything grow and winter began. This myth is a symbol of the budding and dying of nature. In the Eleusinian mysteries, this happening was celebrated in honor of Demeter and Persephone, who was known in this cult as Kore.
Love it ;D

The Outsiders to release Micallef print 14th April, by balibob on Apr 14, 2011 14:11:59 GMT 1, Hate to say it...it doesn't do a lot for me, and i love most of his work. I know i will see one in the flesh soon though and go WOW, and then whinge and moan at myself for not trying for one.
Just had a 2 day enforced sabbatical, not quite sure why though?. mmmm

The Outsiders to release Micallef print 14th April, by Happy Shopper on Apr 14, 2011 16:10:43 GMT 1, Been dying to get my first Micallef original or print... but not sure this is quite the one!
Not really the sort of image that works well for screen printing. Why not litho or Giclee with some screen printed Layers and varnishes? Like Jose Parla prints? The "Siren" print looked a little ropey to me up close. Not a good original for screen printing either. Makes me worry about this one.
With so many great originals to make a print from, why choose this fairly abstract one? New direction I suppose?
