Things to do/see in London 10-17.6., by sal on May 13, 2011 14:29:59 GMT 1, I just booked a ticket, so me and my missus are gonna be spending a week in good ol London from 10-17.6... it's been a while since I've been there last, and this time I'd like to focus on street art/galleries and such...
so far Im planning to visit:
- POW - Stolen Space - Pure Evil - Nelly Duff - High Roller Society - Black Rat Projects (Four Cities show) - Andipa gallery (Banksy Exhibition)
Id also like to see some Roa, Banksy, Eine pieces (or anything else you'd recommend), so if anyone could give me some basic/easy directions, that would be fantastic...
also, feel free to recommend ANYTHING interesting that's happening in the area around than (food/drink, art, design, skateboarding, vinyl toys, comedy, are only some of our interests)..
were always after a cool local places to grab a snack/dinner, so if you have any ideas, feel free to send em this way.. and of course, a good pub suggestion for a refreshing pint is ALWAYS welcome.. my favs are Guinness and Josn Smith's, but I'll try anything you suggest
cheers mates!

Things to do/see in London 10-17.6., by speebe on Jun 3, 2011 15:59:47 GMT 1, Sal...Just wandering around East London will give you plenty to see:
Eine - Middlesex St near Aldgate tube (A-Z alphabet) Rivington St (SCARY) near Blackrat gallery (Check Cargo garden on route to BRP for Banksy/Fairey) Old St/Kingsland Rd near the White Cube... more shutters and some roller work End of BrickLane around BethnalGreen Road & some on Shacklewell Street Lots more shutters
Roa Redchurch St not far from Bricklane and Concrete Hermit Hanbury St (?) off Bricklane... round the corner from Stolenspace Gallery/Rough Trade
These are all obvious spots but worth a look... as is Sclater Street
Hit the Loong Kee Cafe on Kingsland Road for some great, affordable Vietnamese Food where you take your own beer.

Things to do/see in London 10-17.6., by Prescription Art on Jun 9, 2011 12:22:27 GMT 1, The obvious suggestion is to go for a curry (or in particular lamb chops) at Tayyabs. Though tayyabs tends to be ridiculously busy these days and Needoo round the corner is just as good.
Or come to Brighton & i'll buy you a pint of Harveys.

Things to do/see in London 10-17.6., by Hubble Bubble on Jun 9, 2011 21:54:36 GMT 1, Think there's a train from Stansted into Kings Cross. This would be your best bet.
Buy an Oyster card each if you plan on using public transport. It will halve the (substantial) cost.
Banksy (allegedly) piece 'if graffiti changed anything' is just behind Post Office Tower.
Comic books/cult models etc at Forbidden Planet on Shaftesbury Avenue.
Orange, o2,vodafone would all be fine for SIM. Widely available. Pick one up at Stansted.
Boat trip from Westminster Bridge down to Thames Barrier and back is a great way to see the city and you can break the journey at various places.
If you don't want to limit your galleries to urban art, Natural History, Science, Imperial War, Tate Modern, British, V&A, National Portrait are all world class galleries/museums.
Enjoy HB

Things to do/see in London 10-17.6., by sal on Jun 12, 2011 0:28:30 GMT 1, Red Market was sadly not opened yet (they still dont have all the papers), but I did see a big ROA squirrel in front of it...
anyways, saw Eine's alphabet, some sweet ROA (thanks speebe), and Dfaced car and pink (banksy) car in front of StolenSpace.. must say that I got much more respect for Eine after seeing his work "in the wild"..
went to Tayyabs for dinner, but "ridiculously busy" sounds like nothing to what we found there.. so we continued to Needoo, and had FANTASTIC dinner (thanks so much for the tip)...
so, what's happening @ Columbia Road and how do I recognize this Cassius fella!?
cheers everyone!

Things to do/see in London 10-17.6., by sal on Jun 15, 2011 0:44:26 GMT 1, went by Black Rat Projects today, and REALLY enjoyed seeing Os Gemeos' in person for the first time.. it's really class of its own...
also, was pretty amazed with Banksy's "The Wave" painting.. always thought its just some sticker/pasteup work, but seeing it from up close made me appreciate it A LOT more...
ended up meeting Candice Tripp JUST as I was talking about the availability of her print...
oh, and breakkie @ Pellici was THE BOMB Fragile! cheers..
