**STOLEN SIGNED SEPIA MORONS **, by Hoops on May 24, 2011 23:46:35 GMT 1, As you might know my auction for the sepia morons finished sunday night for the grand total of £2450 .
The buyer paid straight away ( Paypal then froze my account , but thats a different story .)
Anyway I sent it out on Monday on a special delivery with extra insurance...all good so far.
I checked earlier today and the website said delivered. Tonight I get an email from the buyer saying :
I received a calling card from Royal Mail saying that they had tried to deliver the item, but "as requested the item has been left in your official 'safeplace' as detailed on the item."
Well obviously I would never do that and if the postman is stupid enough to do that with something worth £2500 then I would guess that he might be the one who is scamming it .
I will be calling the post office straight away tomorrow but if anyone is offered a cheap Signed Sepia Morons then please give me the heads up and I will pay them a visit.
Luckily for me I had no intention of sending the COA with the print untill the buyer had confirmed that he had received the print - thank F**k I did that - as who ever has scammed it will never get a COA as my 2nd call will be to POW
Cee U Next Tuesdays!!!!!
Mods , not sure the best place to post this is so please move accordingly

**STOLEN SIGNED SEPIA MORONS **, by Goooogle Male on May 24, 2011 23:49:52 GMT 1, alert Dora and authentications@pestcontroloffice.com immediately. Ditto the police and get a crime number - you'll need it to claim on the Post Office insurance. Do it all as soon as possible, Also, in these circumstances you might want to publicise the edition number so people can look out for it

**STOLEN SIGNED SEPIA MORONS **, by Goooogle Male on May 24, 2011 23:51:30 GMT 1, oh and if it is special delivery and they've left it without signature, you have no worries claiming it back - they aren't allowed to leave SD items in a 'safe place', and you have no responsibility for its safekeeping once you've handed it over in the Post office. And remember - with insurance you don't claim what you sold it for, you claim the market rate to re-purchase (ie gallery rate) which for a signed sepia morons would be a £3.5k claim in my book

**STOLEN SIGNED SEPIA MORONS **, by Goooogle Male on May 25, 2011 0:22:52 GMT 1, the wrong signature is the same as no signature at all - unless royal mail can prove it was delivered and signed for by an authorised person at the address specified

**STOLEN SIGNED SEPIA MORONS **, by hlarmy on May 25, 2011 8:17:11 GMT 1, That's scary; I hope it sorts itself out and that you aren't left out of pocket Hoops. I would imagine if the buyer has an 'official safeplace' and it disappeared from there it's potentially his responsibility / loss. If however this was the postman making it up, then I would imagine he (or ultimately the post office) is responsible. Either way, I can imagine it's going to be a mission reclaiming such a large amount from either him or the post office; I had a lot of difficulty reclaiming on something of a much lower value a couple of years ago - are you also protected by Paypal?
As a word of advice to others, do not use Royal Mail for such high value items. The likes of Flight Logistics ship high value items for as little as 15gbp and offer a far better, courier service....

**STOLEN SIGNED SEPIA MORONS **, by balibob on May 25, 2011 9:52:01 GMT 1, Good luck with the claim Hoops. The only problem with using royal mail is that the max insurance they offer is £2.5k so I wouldn't bother trying to claim any more as it will just get bounced.

**STOLEN SIGNED SEPIA MORONS **, by Goooogle Male on May 25, 2011 12:44:00 GMT 1, good point jeezuz - max claimable value is indeed £2500.
Just re-reading everything again - if the BUYER nominated a safe place and it was left there by RM as instructed and signed for, then all responsbility lies with him (the Buyer) as both you and RM have acted properly. if this is the case, paypal have no right to freeze the payment - get on to them ASAP and kick some butt.

**STOLEN SIGNED SEPIA MORONS **, by Hoops on May 25, 2011 15:16:54 GMT 1, An Update
I called Royal Mail at 8am this morning and they were quite worried as this shouldnt have happened......She tried to call the depot , but didnt get an answer so she emailed them to investigate and gave me a claim number.
5 hours later the depot called the buyer ( he had also left a message this morning ) To say that the item was at the local depot. They've admitted that the item was incorrectly scanned to say it had been accepted by me. and they couldn't explain why the postman had ticked the wrong box on the calling card.........He had actually ticked 3 wrong boxes and failed to put collect from depot anywhere on the card or even write 24 in the " leave for ?? hours before collecting."
All very Sus if you ask me and maybe that depot might be a member of staff short now.....BUT at least it has been located.....The buyer is collecting it tonight.
I do think that is a major downfall by Paypal as most of the time I would feel so much better delivering in person rather than having to use an online POD service ...I understand why they need to do this but it does Leave the seller open to abuse.
Be carefull out there Folks !!!!!
DEbaser...........Its all good on the trolleys..he has just sent payment to me now , he wanted to check a few things out but all cool ...Listing is now being removed..UNLESS anyone else fancies a trolleys for £7500 , anyone ?? anyone ??

I would suggest never posting anything like that via royal mail anyway. Always use a tracked next day or 48 hour courier service. They look after your items better and the cost to send is not much more than royal mail. Plus they collect from your choice of premesis.
