Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by tab1 on Nov 27, 2020 22:07:37 GMT 1, Neither does lobster by the looks of it. I bought one of these through and intermediary gallery for 850£ a while ago. Seems Nick is offering refunds, but I have been told he really wants those posters back in order to issue the refund I wonder why bought in bulk from someone ?

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by jamieb on Nov 27, 2020 22:20:28 GMT 1, I bought one of these through and intermediary gallery for 850£ a while ago. Seems There could be hundreds out there that bought these, GWRB aren't cheap😉 Trust me when I called him out on a phone call he suggested that he was very wealthy and didn’t need to trouble himself with £2000 fake posters and to prove it sent me a picture of his latest acquisition. An OG laugh now. Bit of an upgrade from GWRB. Must be good money in fake posters.

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by Lroy on Nov 27, 2020 22:54:08 GMT 1, Did anyone else get messages from a couple of sources that they had a number of these available including that flyer? Think it was back in April. Yes I was sent them they were from Nick Clark from Tate Ward via Ahmed Pal-Art note the contact name I. The screenshot I was sent. Everyone who purchased a petrol bomb from Tate Ward in the last few years will have bought one of these! semen smileys

He sold very rare and expensive oil painting or prints, kind of that.. Some Banksy crude oils also ... Or was it NTate323.. can’t remember

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by lobster on Nov 28, 2020 0:46:35 GMT 1, I have just been sent this thread as well as having received a PM and I am certainly not looking to avoid the situation / not respond.
Jamie was sold a fake - it was shocking and he was 100% correct - I refunded his money and postage straight away and also spoke to him - I felt that I demonstrated to him that I didn't realise it was a fake ( or of course I would never have sold it in the first place ) but Jamie clearly doesn't believe me and instead chooses to talk about a personal conversation we had - that's cool - Jamie is cleary aggrieved and nothing I say or do is going to change his mind. I do think talking about my personal art collection etc is a bit " strong " but I suppose it is what it is.
This thread has clearly developed into a lot of madness / insanity from me selling these on Instragram through to having an ebay account selling expensive oil paintings to I assume (??) having something to do with selling fake " Wrong War " posters !?!?!?!?!
Aside from the madness what is 100% correct that somebody posted ( possibly Jamie ) is that anyone to have bought one of these, framed it, and stuck it on their wall only to find out it is fake is more than " shitty " - its absolutely fucking vile and I every sympathy.
I, therefore, want to make a few points -
Firstly, after looking at Jamie's - his is VERY different from the others that have been sold by both me and Tate Ward and although his is clearly fake it certainly doesn't mean others are.
Secondly, I would NEVER sell anything that I believed was a fake - on each occasion, they were sold/consigned to / by me I believed they came from a genuine source, and on some occasions ( to be fair not all) they were taken in from people who had consigned other more valuable works.
Finally, if anyone has ANY doubts whatsoever about the authenticity of a Tesco Petrol ( or in fact anything I / Tate Ward have sold them ) or indeed simply the fact that I sold Jamie a fake ( all be it not knowingly ) is so unpalatable to them then I will give them a full/unequivocal refund.
The only caveat I would add is that I would like to get the work I sold them back - someone posted ( I assume sarcastically ' I wonder why ") and the answer is quite simply I, in turn, want to try and get my money back.
I will only be answering PMs or of course, anyone I sold one too should have my number etc so please feel free to contact me.
What I am going to try and do is take the positive out of this situation and it is clear that there are all sorts o fakes out there and not just these - MP posters we have seen and I have no doubt the next thing will be the GDP rats etc and as an auction house we clearly need to get an awful lot better about spotting this stuff or maybe just stop selling it ??

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by jp on Nov 28, 2020 1:53:50 GMT 1, This would make a fascinating write up for a proper investigative journalist. I would especially like to know how Ahmed, the guy selling Walled off Hotel box sets and wall pieces, got involved in selling fake Petrol Bomb posters via whatsapp? I'll bet he has a connection to Tate Ward selling said box sets and wall pieces.

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by tab1 on Nov 28, 2020 3:16:44 GMT 1, How can we be so many posts in regarding the selling of fakes with no mention of the police yet and offer to buy up and buy back said fakes! Pass me the popcorn giphy.com/gifs/popcorn-NipFetnQOuKhW I’ve never understood the michael Jackson popcorn meme, but (wishes he knew how to upload it)
Would be hard to prove a historical purchase was sold as a fake as they are produced in the thousands as an edition and the seller could state the buyer swapped ? The amount of these all being sold at the same time with flyers was suspect , as nobody was crazy about the flyers back then and most were eager to just grab the posters £50-100 these were trading for in the months after the release These fakes have been around for ages I bought one when they were priced at £150 6-7 years back?returned to ebay The flyer was too dark and the poster next to a real one stands out blatantly

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by jamieb on Nov 28, 2020 9:07:47 GMT 1, Morning all.
I see Nick has been on here to try and throw me under the bus.
There is much more to this story and I have more information of why my disclosure of a conversation is relevant as he used the exact same story on the phone to another buyer of a fake as a reason as to why he wouldn’t sell fakes knowingly. I would suggest that amount that have seemingly been sold over the years it is with it.
I won’t post it all on here.
As many already have I’m happy to PM about. Or maybe a group zoom call.
Lobster/Nick did confirm to me that they didn’t have the skill or capacity to validate if the posters etc are genuine and that maybe I should work for them as I have a good eye. He did also say that maybe TW should just stop dealing in them. That’s was in September. Must still be thinking about it while the cash rolls in.

sure there are thousands of those, this is a large scale fraud 1000 each x 2000poster = 2,000,000 value now 12,000,000 1000 each x 4000 poster = 4,000,000 value now 24,000,000 These are just some of the questions facing; Do you know those were fake? Why have you been selling via various galleries and random sellers? Will you compensate those who bought the fake posters back in 2017/08/09/20? who was the source of the posters allegedly sold? nick should know how many fakes he sold, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000? urbanartassociation.com/thread/164869/petrol-bombwww.artsy.net/artwork/banksy-petrol-bomb-12www.catawiki.com/l/27320333-banksy-petrol-bomburbanartassociation.com/thread/160050/banksy-petrol-bombtateward, nick, lobter, patrick01 urbanartassociation.com/thread/160050/banksy-petrol-bombwww.gazette-drouot.com/en/lots/12381044www.google.co.uk/search?q=banksy+petrol+bomb&sxsrf=ALeKk00KQop62ZKcFh1wmVkJp3AxiFeaFQ:1606549969314&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiPifCB4aTtAhW6RjABHVbbC3AQ_AUoA3oECAcQBQ&biw=1920&bih=910

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by lobster on Nov 28, 2020 10:28:01 GMT 1, I said I would keep this to PM however I want to answer Jamie's point and reiterate my position.
We certainly did have that conversation in Septemeber and since then Tate Ward has sole one " Tesco Petrol " in our October sale - this was consigned by a long-standing forum member who I am not going to name however is, of course, welcome to post here if he wants to. What we haven't done is changed the image on the website which I didn't realise - if the vendor/buyer agree then I am happy to send these images to anyone who asks for them.
Jamie's comment about " the cash rolling in " is once again unfounded.
I have tried to be as fair as I can and I believe agreeing to offer a refund to anyone who has bought any works off me or Tate Ward whether they believe them to be fake or not illustrates this however this is clearly not enough for Jamie.
Once again I want to state that I have never knowingly sold any works that I believed were fake and I am now going to look back through this thread and I intend to sue anyone who has said I have for deformation - trust me this is not an " idle threat " and I can't imagine that setting up a new forum name with a single post etc is going to offer much protection against a social media libel claim but it looks like we are going to find out.
Finally, if anyone does have any issues please contact me ASAP and I will try and sort any issues out to the best of my ability and as quickly as possible.

So you unknowingly put fake posters, like a shit load of them in to various auctions? I dont know what is worst the not knowing what you are unwittingly selling, or you printing them out the back of your seedy little casino. Fuck off you didn't know, you spend years on this forum, you know what you are in for. And if you cannot spell DEFAMATION, the chances are you are a thick cunt also.
Those sneaky casino tricks of the trade served you well. I mean, its a nice little earner consigning your own works to your own auction - just keep bidding your item up. And dont threaten to sue anyone, you know you wont, because you dont want the courts to look at your books, to see who consigned and who bid and who bought.

Takes a deep breath.........
I dont post much on here because I often like to sit on the fence and watch the world go by, however Ive been reading this since a friend of mine sent me a link to it last night and this is my view.
Maybe it might be more appropriate considering the nature of these allegations, to suggest that if you have a record of each sale made, that you take the steps of reaching out to the buyers rather than expecting them to contact you.....?
They may not all be Forum members etc and considering there are quite a few accusations being thrown about on here, this may be a more suitable approach.
Making statements about suing for deformation of character may not be the answer. However, putting it right in a timely manner by taking the initiative/approach of contacting the buyers yourself would probably do a lot to show your integrity in making this as right as can be....
No-one likes to hear of stories like this and yes it does stink and is unfair because people will feel cheated/disillusioned etc , but surely it could be put right in a productive way rather than it ending up in a 20 page hate-athon.........
I have consigned some items with TW in the past as other members may or may not know but had I known about this prior then I may have chosen not to do so.......
Danny works really hard building relationships with consignees for TW and Im sure a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to make these auctions happen......It would be a shame to potentially allow this to become tarnished by a few replica posters and threats of legal action.

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by avec art on Nov 28, 2020 12:04:15 GMT 1, This is a brutal read. Since I may be facing a lawsuit, I am purely stating fact. The following statement has no relation to the above thread. Please read it and interpret it as you wish. Since APRIL 2019 - Tate Ward have sold £20,884 worth of Petrol Bomb Posters. I wonder what percentage of these were genuine if any?

I bought this off an ebayer on 11 May 2011. It is damaged and I ironed it, but it still looks great framed.

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by lobster on Nov 28, 2020 12:26:44 GMT 1, Thanks Andy Pandy - I appreciate the input.
The legal route is possibly not the answer but it is a route I intend to go whether I can spell defamation or not .... I / Tate Ward have a clear audit trail where these have come from and as I keep saying I would never knowingly sell anything I believed to be fake.
Maybe it was always going to be the case but when people are posting what they are, setting up new accounts , calling me a cunt etc etc I really have no choice
Your 100% right it would make sense to contact people rather than wait until they contact me which I will do and Tate Ward will be doing the same.
As mentioned above the one sold in October was consigned by a long-standing member here and we could potentially use that to compare others too.
Thanks Andy Pandy - I appreciate the input.

Even to the point that you intend to use that said artwork as a measure of what a real one looks like, just because the person has been on here a long time?

This may or may not be relevant but I have had a recent dealing with Lobster with a large sum of money involved and it went incredibly smoothly. He was very trusting and seemed a straight forward type of guy.
I would be disappointed if now knowing what we do that the situation wasnt made right for all parties, particularly during the midst of a recession/pandemic.
I still have a couple of petrol bombs that I queued up for and therefore know to be genuine. I would be happy to compare any high res images against them if it helps (offer open to all forum members).

Hopefully this thread has at least shown how easy it is to spot a real one from a fake.
This is exactly what a real one should look like. Look at the blue look at the smoke. Congrats. Perfect.
Wish I could have got a real one but never mind.
Hope everyone who’s been burnt gets their money back. And I hope karma is real.
