Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by colinfishwick on Nov 28, 2020 17:11:39 GMT 1, Hang on Jamie the guy who sold this offered your money back in full no agg with what looks like a genuine mistake You was not happy until you aired your laundry on here and you wish him bad karma you sound like a spiteful individual
Wind your neck in mate, thanks to Jamie a lot of people now know that they’ve been sold fakes (unintentionally, or fraudulently - the courts can decide that, crown court hopefully). That is good karma in my book so good on you Jamie Lad!
To the notoriously unlucky person who sells art for a living, yet seemingly cannot differentiate his arse from his elbow, the bad karma is on you. You can try and out this right with each individual but you have a duty of care as professional dealer/seller/auctioneer/collector or whatever, to know what you are selling on?

If bought a year ago these were 600-800?even if refunded now , not as if you can re purchase a genuine one with the refund?

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by colinfishwick on Nov 28, 2020 17:17:42 GMT 1, To the people who are all too willing to forgive and forget and to believe an honest mistake was made by an ‘expert’ in isolation, about 30 times over?! I say this: put yourself in the position of the buyer, imagine you’ve paid top whack for a pile of shite. You may well have consigned and had a good experience, others have not and are rightly miffed. This forum has always stood together to protect genuine collectors from chancers and thieves, good to see that togetherness continue. That doesn’t make it a witch hunt, just a good old fashioned community, looking out for one another.

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by Matt on Nov 28, 2020 17:28:59 GMT 1, I said I would keep this to PM however I want to answer Jamie's point and reiterate my position. We certainly did have that conversation in Septemeber and since then Tate Ward has sole one " Tesco Petrol " in our October sale - this was consigned by a long-standing forum member who I am not going to name however is, of course, welcome to post here if he wants to. What we haven't done is changed the image on the website which I didn't realise - if the vendor/buyer agree then I am happy to send these images to anyone who asks for them. Jamie's comment about " the cash rolling in " is once again unfounded. I have tried to be as fair as I can and I believe agreeing to offer a refund to anyone who has bought any works off me or Tate Ward whether they believe them to be fake or not illustrates this however this is clearly not enough for Jamie. Once again I want to state that I have never knowingly sold any works that I believed were fake and I am now going to look back through this thread and I intend to sue anyone who has said I have for deformation - trust me this is not an " idle threat " and I can't imagine that setting up a new forum name with a single post etc is going to offer much protection against a social media libel claim but it looks like we are going to find out. Finally, if anyone does have any issues please contact me ASAP and I will try and sort any issues out to the best of my ability and as quickly as possible.
Nice story
But we aren’t just talking about 1-2 bad posters here so this doesn’t really cut it does it.
You have released a large quantity of fake posters AND fake flyers for several years so it really begs the questions : is this stupidity or malice Nick ?
Because by releasing all of these fakes you are either terrible at your job or dishonest

Fews points on your comment
1 This thread was about how to spot a fake to help other forum members
2 I had a lot pms about similar fakes from the same seller
3 I decided to name the seller to help other and clearly stated that he gave me a full refund with no questions asked and everything was sorted in regards to my purchase
4 Why do you assume I was wishing bad karma and not good karma to myself for helping others?
5 Read the whole thread for all the other genuine mistakes
6 Based on your PMs to me you are the "spiteful individual"

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by Lroy on Nov 28, 2020 20:39:46 GMT 1, this thread makes me nauseous. really. Here we are among members and we already see the scale of the disaster, just at our level. How many of these posters were sold by other sellers or resellers? just recently one of those posters (real or fake?) sold for over £ 3000 ?! It's huge ! It is unforgivable and we expect from a gallery, confidence, honesty, because the latter is supposed to have appraised the print. I think of those young couples or not who believed and wanted their first Banksy and who don't know that it is a fake. Will they ever find out? Jamie pulled out a big deal here! We have had famous cases in the past, and, eBay is full of fakes - not at these prices anyway ( I bought in 2013 Save or Delete poster, supposed genuine « - for 30 quid - and the guy even put two in the tube...).
Petrol Bomb, was, is a print for the people, anarchists and the humble, honest people of Bristol, and we find ourselves facing, capitalists and scammers who will do anything for the money. One of these posters sold over 6k at auction. Was it a real one ? it still reminds me the story of this young man who bought (by a gallery) a bat d'Invader (true or false. in any case, stolen).
Contemporary art galleries are much more supervised than that, with very strict rules. Do they also sell on ebay? street art doesn't mean carelessness and indulging in anything. Really, something has changed on this forum and we have lost a bit of ourselves, our dreams, trusting members, our confidence and our love of street art. I should be happy to have bought mine from an ordinary citizen of Bristol, but no, now this print smells of scorch and burns itself up. Singed I, we used to say here- coz of my dyslexia.

CLAIRE aka steve Pipe down you twit , sending me a PRIVATE message to defend frauds ?
There are plenty of other people that purchased years ago so my previous statement relates to them . Ie even if refunds are made now from purchases 2 1 year ago when 6-800 Many have now lost out the chance to repurchase as many can not afford 3k they are now ! Unless the seller can exchange for genuine items👀😬
But you feel so irritated by a non malicious statement that you need to send me a private email and insult me ? 🤡🤡🤡🤡 I suppose when this scenario happens to you , you will Be very understanding

A point well made, I feel though that with the prices being generated nowadays, I'd say that no gallery can authenticate/ appraise a banksy regardless of how long they have been in the game or their experience in the comings and goings of Mr B except PC. Not sure that stating "this comes with no COA" or I honestly think its the real deal/we would never sell a fake" is enough. Even a receipt doesn't prove anything unless one has an edition number on. I remember the till receipts from the Ghettos for Mr B stuff, just had £100 on it and Laz header, well the ones I got did. I was out of the game with the posters so d they have some kind of COA?
This higlights that even with COA galleries and dealers have to remain on guard. Shame it got to this but the thought of 💰 can sometimes result in greed.
Remember the issues Eye Storm had with Hirst Prints!! Reality now is, no COA = you take the risk.

The amount of continous private emails you are sending me of abuse about a statement that buyers will have lost out ?
For what ? A poster as you say , with no association to you with the seller , why so worked up and need to defend him?
I can handle randomness and odd behaviour which is frequent here , but you are displaying extreme abuse and possibly mental Health issues claire and need help
Ive reported your messages , carry on if you need

Agreed about the coa and the sale ticket or “‘envelope “ sometimes asked, or bill, etc .. that means nothing. Your comment is clea. But is it a reason to swindle people? With an organization? Structured. With friends ( not you of course ) as Steve Pete ? Steve is laughing ( too much 🍺 🍷 ? ) loud, insulting, saying that’s nothing, a poster, a piece of paper ( heard this imbecile kind of “quote “ thousand times ! ) , playing with a cynical hype irony ... and is agreed with another one mocking the guys ., Why ? Because he is rich and selfish ? Condescending And very proud to be ? Cynical again ? Pro Brexit, right side, UKIP maybe ? Liking to nail youths, workers, fans of Banksy and urban art , and to scratch them as a cow-boy do it with his fag on the pavement .. You have too much money ? Gimme some ! Or give it to charity. A fake one. No Risks.
this thread makes me nauseous. Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by Horatio Nelson on Nov 28, 2020 23:58:46 GMT 1, I haven’t previously dealt with lobster/Tate Ward or bought this poster, but I had been eyeing up some items in their forthcoming auction. And this thread worries me quite a bit, leaving me questioning a number of their listings.
In short, it’s one thing knowing the market and being able to set up an auction house as a marketplace/intermediary to facilitate the sale and purchase of works, but it’s an entirely different thing setting up somewhere with the technical expertise to deal with matters such as the authenticity of works (which is pretty important where the market is now saturated with so many unsigned editions which didn’t originate from galleries).
To illustrate the point, I see in the 2017 thread that Lobster said the following in relation to a petrol bomb then offered by him for sale: “ It is indeed a printed signature - some people use the term " plate signed " - I have no idea what that means (!!!!!) but I assume it is the same thing ”
Now, not saying everyone who opens an auction house or sells art has to have an MA from the Courtauld or have spent decades at Christies etc, but the fact that someone doesn’t know what “plate signed” means and can then go on to co-found an auction house (even if not the person tasked with appraisals/valuations) is mildly concerning, and gives me pause for thought before bidding for some of those unsigned Warhols etc coming up next month.

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by Richy Rich on Nov 29, 2020 0:33:42 GMT 1, Here here Mr Steve Perkins Don’t know what all the fuss is about, It’s only a cheap old poster , no coa , who cares stick it on your wall , what difference does it make if it’s a slightly different colour , ? What’s to say banksy ain’t your pants down with the supposed real ones 🤣
Watching David talk to himself via his multiple accounts as two different people (lab & Steve Perkins) is my new favourite thing. I’m sorry I’ve questioned you in the past David. Please never change. This is gold.

And it all started with a £5 poster👀 The gallery will take a big hit in public faith once this all becomes public knowledge A group has made a lot of money through these fakes through their links to galleries , auctions houses and internet wheeler dealers Would anyone still consider consigning with this gallery / auction house at present ? Could end up like a pyramid scheme using new money to refund all past sales ?

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by Rubberneck on Nov 29, 2020 1:39:50 GMT 1, Well done Jamie!
A group action may be the way forward, refunds at current value should be sought. It’s what I would want. A chance to get the genuine poster you were sold in the first place. Power in numbers.
Good luck!

Banksy • Tesco Petrol Bomb Poster, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Nov 29, 2020 3:59:58 GMT 1, Hats off to Jamie for bringing this to everyone's attention. Hopefully in the background Tate ward would be looking at all the posters they have sold previously as others maybe fake also, not just the the petrol bomb posters..
