Salvaged PUNK for sale on Dover Street , by speebe on Jun 4, 2011 20:37:07 GMT 1, Spotted this piece on painted onto a door on display at a gallery on Dover Street.
Was going to ask about the provenance but couldn't be arssd as obviously it wouldn't have anything solid.
Interesting that more and more established galleries are taking a punt on pieces that can't or won't be varified by pestcontrol.

Salvaged PUNK for sale on Dover Street , by Warm Gun on Jun 5, 2011 19:30:32 GMT 1, This was removed from the ocean rooms club in Brighton, apparently it was one of many commissioned pieces at the time so should have rock solid provenance. It was apparently rediscovered when a door was being stripped and renovated.
The funny thing is a story appeared about this piece on the front page of the Argus newspaper a few weeks back. I went on line to re-read the story that day but it had been removed from the archives and from the latest news page.

I'm obviously not happy if they are removed to be sold to the highest bidder, and will never be seen again by the likes of us, but I am happy for the pieces to be removed for their own protection, and as long as they are displayed in a public gallery.
Banksy is no different from any other street artist.....he wants his work to be enjoyed, and seen by as many people as poss.......if it's buffed......it's gone for good!!

what made you assume they didn't have pc provenance for this piece out of interest? You don't know when the request was made, and it wasn't a 'street' piece per se.
