Recessed Lighting for Art, by Cardiff on Jun 11, 2011 5:33:55 GMT 1, I'm looking for suggestions of recessed/ceiling spot lighting to accentuate some of my art. Anyone have any suggestions (I couldn't find another thread on this topic). I'm located in the USA.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...thanks!

Recessed Lighting for Art, by Warm Gun on Jun 11, 2011 10:50:48 GMT 1, The only thing I can suggest is go for the tilt down lights (adjustable ones) if they're in the ceiling, that way you can angle the light onto the art rather than having a column of light hitting the floor. The new LED lamps give of the brightest light(they're also the most energy efficient by a long way).
A 12v light (one that has a transformer with it - the voltage may be different over your side of the pond) will emanate a softer glow with a better spread of light if that's the look your after. That's what most galleries would use.

Recessed Lighting for Art, by Cardiff on Jun 11, 2011 18:02:39 GMT 1, Thanks Warmgun! Anyone have any recommendations for specific brands of lighting? I know there are some products that are more specific to lighting art (www.phantomlighting.com/)...I'd be interested to know if anyone's used this kind of product.

Recessed Lighting for Art, by jB on Jun 11, 2011 18:37:16 GMT 1, Cardiff, you should send photoxtc a pm, he's in California and has a wicked set up that he put in a year or two back. He should be able to shed some 'light' on it.
