This is different though mate...would have been collected up and burnt or whitewashed and reused at another festi....it just strikes me as bizzare that organisers or councils dont hold the value of the pieces with higer esteem themselves in the first place. Cant belive that no one knew at the time.


On a similar note to the buffed street pieces the council seem happy to get rid of, am not sure about the recent happenings with the Bristol "lovers" piece...but over 97% of the Bristol population voted for it to stay. "These pieces have their place as valid street art" was one quote I read and another thing, just 200 yards from "Banana Pulp Fiction" thats now gone, Shoreditch council obviously allowed graffiti artists to legitmately tag some walls (albeit very non poltical and non offensive london buses, oscar the grouch etc) at the festival in 2003....I can see that the point of buffing it is that they considering it a green light to others, but to buff a piece like Banksys and leave all the scummy tags and flyposters is ridiculous!
