signed artist proofs, by maigretjnr on May 9, 2007 14:11:16 GMT 1, hi there
i came on this forum a couple of months ago to see if there was interest in a couple of banksy prints i bought back in 2003 froma mutual friend. a few people asked if icould post photos. i havent got one of the signed queen monkey which was from the same batch but here is the rioter love is in the air. i love both of these but am seriously considering selling as by the looks of things these prints are pretty hot property right now and im skint! i asked the seller and he can get full authentication from one of the galleries that deals banksys.
so here are the pics... sorry the one of the signature is so obscured but id need to cut the frame backing to shoot that. if someone was really interested i could do that in person (im in london) but loathed to just yet as it cost me a bit! it's signed A/P BANKSY 03 in pencil.
message me back or email at maigretjnr@hotmail.com if still interested peeps...

signed artist proofs, by maigretjnr on May 9, 2007 15:44:22 GMT 1, from the messages ive had back on this post, im suddenly thinking i may well be! i knew they were worth something but had no idea. a poor man is suddenly relieved!... if saddened that a sell seems now inevitable. i do love this print a lot.
as i im kind of feeling my way through the process im thinking maybe ebay is the best place for it. let it do its thing and find its "natural" price. damn, i dont know! time to think... all advice welcome!

You will get a ton for it - and you can always buy an unsigned version of the same print & use the profit for your brokeness. Good luck - I look forward to seeing what it will attain.

Why not see if Laz or Anipa wants to buy it...

As curley says it would be also worth asking a few galleries too, it could save you a lot of hassle.
Good Luck, perhaps you can let us know if it goes on the bay or what values the galleries give you.
One more thing, I think it would be good to take it out of the frame (after taking some more pics) and that would show the complete condition and the signature much better.

I don't believe Laz is buying back prints. Definitely worth checking out Andipa though.

I agree that the more pictures the better the results will be and to definitely take it out of the frame. However, I don't think you need to start the auction high (and thus incur a large insertion fee). Start it at .99 and put a reserve you feel comfortable with.

good point and try and include your user-id in the photo to show it is unique to you.

why on earth would they think it's fake? if it was on a BIN maybe. i would start it at ยฃ99 and watch people go mad over it, there's nothing better than getting numerous people bidding against one another. historically the most succesful banksy auctions have had low starts and got people interested and competing.
i think you will get a much better price off ebay than any gallery but it would not hurt to get their offers in and if the auction doesn't go to plan pull it and sell it to them. very underhand and immoral but you only have to say it has sold elsewhere, i've had it done to me a couple of times and it isn't nice but there is nothing you can do about it.
good luck with it, if we're placing bets i'll say ยฃ15k plus.

thanks again all R

seriously why sell if you don't need to?
i agree with coreblimey and silky's viewpoints that things are just starting to take off. the US barely knows who banksy is. he's big overseas but it will take off here as well. of course i think what others said is true as well, regarding the art market bursting if other markets burst, but then we're all fucked anyway so it won't matter and at least you will have something cool to look at.

Don't let the bailiffs see it they'll take it away and sell it at a local auction for a fraction of what it's worth.
About keeping it for even more money, it may be worth keeping for a little longer to squeeze a bit more out of it, but be realistic. If you can't afford to insure it, be very careful, maybe the cash in hand is worth taking rather than to find it stolen, damaged, or destroyed by fire or something. Sorry if I'm sounding like an insurance salesman.
