Banksy 'inspired' art, by RetroCanvas on Jan 27, 2006 17:23:18 GMT 1, This maybe one for the POW members we have in the forum but anyone is welcome to answer if they know...
I talking about the art sold on ebay that is a blatent copy of a banksy images.
The artists claim that this is art inspired by Banksy. Does this, under copyright laws and stuff, allow them to this. I mean, if someone paints (not stencils) a banksy image using different colours or modifying it slighty make it ok??
I know that this stuff is worthless compared to the real thing and why people would buy it i don't have a clue. Just interested really as an artist myself. Don't worry, not going to start churning out copies, it's not my line of art.

Yeah i got caught by the stamps when they fist appeared, IDIOT ME. Lesson learned. I Don't use ebay for his art now. I only buy from POW. I might not get the old stuff, but at least i know it's real.

many of these fake canvases on ebay they are not cheap and its very unlikely you could ever sell them and get your money back.
