website design help, by HRE on Jul 5, 2011 19:39:06 GMT 1, Hi everyone,
I wanted to set up my website and have been searching for a nice designed easy to set up template.
I have seen WIX but its a flash website build and I don't want go that way as you cant use it on ipad etc.
If anyone knows of any places that I could start too look into that would be great. I don't want it too cost the earth and would like to be able to have my own web address as some don't let you have this.
The type of the design im looking for is something along this (i know this is flash though) www.danduchars.com/main.html
look forward to see what others use and what you come up with.

website design help, by reptonic on Jul 5, 2011 21:55:26 GMT 1, you could take a look at concrete5 (concrete5.org). its free, pretty and web-host friendly. its a bit technical to set up but has lots of functionality out of the box, image galleries, forms, files, blogs etc... and you can buy fancy skins but the deafult white one is nice enough
edit: , i just looked at the link you had... erm yeah, that is a little more advanced! concrete does have a "delux image gallery" thingy which is quite nice, but never going to be that fancy.

website design help, by Coach on Jul 5, 2011 23:29:07 GMT 1, I know nothing of such things, but I know someone who does. I suspect he would be prepared to swap his work on a website for art. PM me if of interest.

website design help, by Deleted on Jul 6, 2011 7:40:33 GMT 1, What you are looking is feasable in HTML and JS library such as Jquery or Mootools, no Flash required.
If you don't have short deadline and already have the content (text + photos), then I can do the job or assist you. You have a PM with links on project I working on currently (slightly similar to what you want) !!
Cargo is nice, a bit like Tumblr blog, except you have your own domain which is good in long term.
Wordpress is very popular and easy to use... you just need a domain name and a host and install Wordpress... then search for a good theme online (usually between 10 and 20 USD per theme).
Otherwise a .com cost only 10 USD per year, then share hosting is slightly more expensive - about 13 USD per month - and dedicated hosting is much more expensive. If you can afford the hosting, I can host it on my shared host account.

website design help, by notworthit on Jul 6, 2011 11:03:04 GMT 1, I'd definitely go with wordpress there's some superb templates out there, e,g.
www.pixedelic.com/themes/delight/
One.com for hosting and domain name. free for the first year then 29 a year afterwards.
