Banksy Print Release Per Year?, by boatyb on Jul 30, 2011 13:37:06 GMT 1, maybe no more "prints" - just "images"... and leave the print making to the bootleggers... could solve the supply/demand and flipping issues, no...

Yeah! I reckon Xmas time again based on the last few years. Would be nice if POW did an online drop between now and then though.

Banksy Print Release Per Year?, by maumau93 on Sept 15, 2011 15:57:02 GMT 1, i wouldnt be to bothered how many prints he released if he just stuck to gettin work up on the streets i think to much emphasis is put on what he sells, he should be encouraged to do more street work that is what really gets people raving about his prints

Banksy Print Release Per Year?, by lifeonwalls on Sept 15, 2011 16:05:46 GMT 1, With the amount of potential money that he could possibly raise for charity (Tesco Bomb), another unsigned silkscreened edition would be amazing.
Make it a 24 hour sale, whatever is sold in that period is the edition. Spread out the net proceeds to whatever charity he (and printers) decide.
Wonder if that would just cause headaches for Pest Control down the line though....

Banksy Print Release Per Year?, by mojjac on Sept 16, 2011 0:43:32 GMT 1, It would be great if he just stopped producing prints and concentrated on what put him into the lime light in the first place but If he did then POW would have lost their golden goose so no doubt they will both stick to the yearly Xmas print fiasco.

Banksy Print Release Per Year?, by otomi on Sept 16, 2011 6:59:09 GMT 1, he used to release a lot and I think he has a much better catalog to get images from now
he can donate the money if he doesn't need it
I feel in the beginning it was about to get the art to the people now he seems to be doing more canvas commissions than street pieces and prints
i'm mostly saying this because I would enjoy one of his prints
in the end he can do what ever he wants
once we are putting up our wishlist I would enjoy a straight up online release no one gets hurt and everyone has a chance
i think in a London base store release you will a higher flipper ratio than in an online release
oh - and i never win lotteries so skip that please
so who do I talk to for better weather?

1 release per year is hardly taking up all of his time. They guy probably has a family now and I guess from time to time they need some attention. We've seen nothing of him since MOMA, so I wouldn't be surprised at no release this year.

Banksy Print Release Per Year?, by Neate Michael on Sept 16, 2011 11:00:25 GMT 1, I have said it before, I shall say it again.
I would love Banksy to do an unlimited timed release. Doesn't even need to sign it as far as I am concerned.
All the money raised can go to charity.
None of that queue bollocks that favours only those in the south of England, none of the fastest finger bollocks that people had scripts for....
He could get away with selling the £200 plus... Think about how much that would raise if he sold 10,000...
I am sure it would raise an enormous amount for charity and there would be no ill feeling, other than from people that want to flip for huge profit or elitist snobs that will complain about the edition size and lack of a signature which would have been done by one of his minions anyway.
Do it Banksy. Do it for your fans. Both old and new.....

Banksy Print Release Per Year?, by Deleted on Sept 16, 2011 11:21:09 GMT 1, Yep !
Unlimited time release for charity, just like Keyes did !! Not signed, unlimited, giclee paper.
Then, low edition screenprints signed in a raffle amongst buyers of first poster.

lol made me laugh! Such bitterness! people have flown in from germany and dubai and scored prints! Get off your ass and get down there next time!!
I would love to know the logic in 1 print a year when you have people like Shep doing more like 1000 a year! Maybe in years to come people will look back and admire Banksy for it. What could the image be we wonder?
Robbo related?

Such bitterness! people have flown in from germany and dubai and scored prints! Get off your ass and get down there next time!!
It is complete and utter bollocks that people flew in from Germany and Dubai and scored prints in any Banksy queue. If I recall last year's farce, the details leaked on a Friday night, the queue shuffled from Soho to East London, then back to Soho but all in the space of one evening. No f**king way did anybody fly in from Dubai for that, or Germany... Yes, a few lads drove from Bristol, but that is South England.
I a not bitter. I wasn't in it. I didn't win it. I stayed on my sofa (which was in Stockholm, but previously when living in Clapham I chose not to queue for a Banksy print) and was impressed by those brave souls that sat up for the night. There are very few things I would queue overnight for (I am with that lady from Laz, who poured scorn on the Micallef queue, and said she would only queue overnight for a new kidney from her baby or something similar, daft 'mare) and given that each and every Banksy queue ends in bitterness and recrimination, I would never contemplate it (although one does think if he did the print release in Stockholm, it may be full of a few less c**t, and according to you it would be fair, as all you would need to do, is get to Heathrow and buy an expensive last minute flight to Stockholm).
But if for one second, you think that a queue, based in London, favours anybody other than Londoners, then you sir, are clearly deluded.
Which is why, I vote for the unlimited edition. f**king do it Banksy....

I met the couple who flew from Germany on the off chance there was a Banksy release last year. And they got a print.
In fact, one of them is a member on the forum called 'love'.
So you're wrong.

Banksy Print Release Per Year?, by Neate Michael on Sept 16, 2011 12:51:55 GMT 1, I think maybe they planned a weekend in London, and hoped a print may be released that weekend, but that is different to flying last minute and at great expense to London.
Anyway sir, the point was, and remains, that constantly releasing prints in London, favours Londoners. I cannot see why you would not accept that.

Banksy Print Release Per Year?, by skitchy on Sept 16, 2011 13:58:10 GMT 1, Yep Love was who I had in mind. Also the guy who was number 1 in the queue for No Ball Games flew in from dubai and did two nights queuing! So if you are keen enough you have no excuse!
I do agree it does get a big crazy at times but its ultimately worth it! taking the day off work and pressing F5 just doesn't work anymore!
Queuing in soho was the biggest mistake last year, I still maintain the only reason CYW hasnt got the heavy weaponry stamp is due to POW being forced to release the print by the amount of people that turned up.
