How do you hang your large canvas(es)?, by stradled on Jul 28, 2011 23:06:49 GMT 1, Hi, recently got a large canvas (1.5 x 1.7 metres) but never had to really hang anything that large.
I noticed that some websites are selling kits that get screwed on to the back of the canvas, not sure if I want to screw things in to the back of it - is that normal?
Wondering what other forum members have been doing with similar sized canvases?

How do you hang your large canvas(es)?, by Rolex on Jul 29, 2011 0:56:42 GMT 1, Hi, I've hung my large canvas (2.1m x 1.2m) on two battens, one screwed to the underside of the top of canvas frame the other screwed to wall, so basically one batten sits on top of the other, what stops the canvas falling off is the fact that the top edge of wall batten & the bottom edge of canvas batten are cut at 45 degrees , so it traps it self in place when hung, so in other words you would have to lift canvas upwards before it would come off. I find This method very simple & very satisfactory. Hope it makes sence.

How do you hang your large canvas(es)?, by manty on Jul 29, 2011 7:24:41 GMT 1, Put 2 screws in the wall
Hopefully level
Hang canvas on them
Done
ETA
Maybe i was a little hasty
Its a big dude
maybe do what Mr Rolex man suggested
or get a couple of mirror plates (google is your friend)
I don't think anyone would worry about a few small holes in the wood. Would they?

Perfect, I will go for this method. And seems screws are all good in to the wood of the canvas.
Thanks for the help.
