nnnnnnooooooo!!!!!!!, by corblimeylimey on May 13, 2007 18:50:22 GMT 1, Your link didn't work but I found it using the number
try this snipurl.com/1kfku
He may have got it wrong about being dry mounted, there has been confusion on this before as some people think it means not stuck on, which in fact is the exact opposite of what it means, it won't be stuck to the red mount though lesbianwednesdays, it'll be stuck to the backing board if it was dry mounted.
If anyone wants to bid on this I'd find out from the seller exectly what he means by 'dry mounted'

nnnnnnooooooo!!!!!!!, by Run Pig Run on May 13, 2007 19:58:12 GMT 1, would there being any long term damage with dry mounting (sounds dirty) or is it just the fact you are stuck with the same background?

from what i understand BH is that the print is stuck to a mount/backing board via a heat adhesive technique known as dry mounting. you could in theory mount the print any way or colour you like but you ain't never gonna get that SOB off the board.
unless you want it in strips via a hot steam wallpaper remover thingy. oops.
there is a thread in the framing section somewhere about the whole specifics of this process, i'm hoping given time CBL will root it out .

nnnnnnooooooo!!!!!!!, by corblimeylimey on May 13, 2007 20:15:08 GMT 1, You'll be able to change the mount, but the print will be stuck to the backing board, which is not conservation standard so all manner of damage will occur over time and for valuation purposes it'll be worth a very small fraction of what it would have been.
Tell you what lesbianwednesdays, I'll let you root about in the framing thread, after all this is your thread ;D

nnnnnnooooooo!!!!!!!, by corblimeylimey on May 13, 2007 20:39:53 GMT 1, "Dry mounting is a permanent mounting process where the art is glued to a mounting board, using heat and pressure. The mounting board is usually a foam core board, but other boards can be used depending on the circumstances of how the art will be used. A tissue type adhesive is placed between the art and the mounting board. This combination is then inserted into a vacuum press and heated up to activate the adhesive while the press applies pressure.
If a piece of art is to be conservation framed then dry mounting cannot be used, since it would adversely affect the value of the art. Dry mounting is used when the aesthetic appearance of the art warrants it to be flat.
An inexpensive replaceable movie poster, art poster or music poster would be good examples of items that would be dry mounted."
