Whats going on here?, by ala399 on Jul 8, 2007 2:49:16 GMT 1, Ebay Queen Vic 290134782255 and Napalm 150139631219
Now I'm not interested in either, but they are listed by different sellers, but both from Takamatsu, Kagawa, Japan.
In the pictures both prints are held down by identical white little disks, and the terms & conditions identical. Sellers are the same, but Napalm has only 2 feedbacks.
Can someone shed light as to whats the logic here? Same person listing, but why would they use different ids, and why list a ยฃ1000+ item with a 2 feedback seller?
Just trying to educate myself.

Whats going on here?, by poofly on Jul 8, 2007 2:56:50 GMT 1, There was lots of talk ages ago about this Japanese seller who was selling prints, some back door ones without POW stamps, and some other rare ones, but all unsigned and seemingly POW couldn't confirm the name of the gallery.
I had asked the guy about one of WSM in a different colour, won the auction and then he couldn't give me any decent details about it so that was the end of that.
If you are tempted make sure it all checks out, personally I wouldn't touch them with yours. ken.

Whats going on here?, by tokyojeff on Jul 8, 2007 3:15:26 GMT 1, I'm not familiar with this seller but unfortunately there have been dubious sales coming out of Japan. It is not uncommon over here for someone to even bid up their own auctions under another ID (as discussed before by others here on the Forum). Yahoo Japan has actually tried to stop last second bidding over here as well by automatically extending the end time of the auction. Copies and Fakes are rampant over here so be sure to always check authenticity. Always available to help Forum members if I can.

There was indeed a Japanese seller last year who repeatedly listed un-numbered prints. The same seller also on more than one occasion listed fake canvases. After some investigating & help from other forum members some of those canvases were tracked back to a seller in the UK who confirmed he had sold them to the Japanese guy, the same UK guy also confirmed he had bought them from a known fake seller in east Anglia. This was all confirmed openly on another forum.
The Japanese guy also had a website with all his stuff on but that disappeared after he read about himself on the other forum I mentioned.
Going back to the question of why the same person would use two different ids to list is beyond me particularly when trying to sell something that could achieve a very good price when backed with a good repuation..... all very strange.
The best advice I'd give anyone is:
- Ask lots of questions of provenance.
- Insist on proof before bidding.
- Keep hard copies of all correspondance.
- Check with POW via email but be patient as they are busy people.
- ALWAYS pay with a credit card.
- If its too good to be true it normally is.
