For the LAST TIME
No-one is denying that prices have fallen in the last few months due to reasons I have explained to you in the Girl In Red Dress thread. This has now stabilised and the next few months should see them slowly pushing up again.
You are saying they will continue to fall and fall until people are giving them away with Frosties...
I have no doubt there is an ulterior motive at work here on your part... not just with Micallef, but with all the other artists you've continually slagged off since joining here - Faile, Ian Francis, Beejoir... what it is I'm still to work out...

Lets face it though, most are down inc Banksy. Isn't he down 30 to 40% since the 'big correction'. Some of Neates prints which were making £2500 are down to £1250 yet we all know Neate is going nowhere apart from up. And all of micallef prints apart from the lazinc ones are all selling for alot more than the original price.

Antony Micallef • 21st Century Love, by Rude Copper on Feb 3, 2008 20:01:26 GMT 1, hmmmm............. listing ended early, chemical ballet from norfolk, has all the hallmarks of........a clockwork tortoise from norfolk! anyone need enlightening what tort does with his auctions?
mike, can you explain the basis of your theory that prices have stabilised & will push up?
my theory is that they have returned to pre LA levels & wont rise too much because he has lost the aura of being'the next big thing'.
btw, here's one that did sell, but has'nt been mentioned.
cgi.ebay.co.uk/Antony-Micallef-Minotaur-Weapon-Edition-of-50_W0QQitemZ130192255653QQihZ003QQcategoryZ360QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
& for what its worth, i think MW is a great print.

Antony Micallef • 21st Century Love, by patrese on Feb 3, 2008 20:48:47 GMT 1, personally i think the people who keep saying 'prices are stabalising and will rise shortly', 'prices low because of time of year' etc have no idea what they're talking about. i haven't read one good reason why print prices should somehow start to rise again some time in 2008 after effectively crashing in the last 6 months. i think prices are coming down from unrealistic levels and at best will stay where they are for a while.

There was a mad few months, capped off with the Micallef LA Show, Micallef prices rose in anticipation of that show far too high and have now gone back to just over where they were in May/June 07... they have not dropped below that.
Basically these few months have screwed people's perception... take out this time and they are on a slow upwards trajectory. Yes they're lower than August/September, but August/September were ludicrous, take this spike out and there is a slow upward curve

The 'cost' of these prints was too much... they were sold at the peak of the mad few months. Weaker than previously released works, sold at overinflated prices, loads of problems with the release, bought up mainly to flip... I could go on... The flippers wanted out immediately and panicked, people who had bought on credit to sell immediately at a huge 100% profit, when they saw they couldn't they sell at lower and lower...
You can't judge Micallef by what has happened with these prints... all the doubters wait until his next show then we can talk again

Antony Micallef • 21st Century Love, by alsbabar on Feb 4, 2008 8:46:52 GMT 1, micallef will bounce back, he has talent that is for sure, Laz knows there is a market for him, perhaps not in these forums, but the buyers who galleries sell to direct. GIWTBB and the high run numbered prints perhaps not, but the harder to find will certainly get snapped up by private buyers/collectors.
Laz's pricing is clearing indicative of this approach - they are not after the people who will quibble over a tenner, but the ones who will drop £22K on an original without any thought.
