Shepard Fairey beaten up..., by origo on Aug 14, 2011 22:08:48 GMT 1, Living in Copenhagen I did see the destroyal of the mural coming, but the beating of Shep and his assistant is just out of order and I am ashamed of this behaviour.
It happened outside the club at the afterparty, the same group (long story) who ruined the mural, assaulted Shep and his assistant.
To make a long story short there has just been a growing subground punk/autonomic enviroment here after some incident back in 2007.
A couple of guys from that enviroment kicked and punched them resulting in Shep and his assistant getting several punches to their faces. I wasn´t surprised about the mural being ruined, it was placed right next to where these guys used to have a house which was taken from them by the government resulting in streetwars which pretty much lasted for a month.
Used to have sympathy for these guys and their cause, but it has all gotten out of control and with such great artists as Fairey not being able to come here, it is a very touchy subject though and will be for a very long time.
