I think they're cool, more novelty to me though. 300 for a time release though.. may have picked up a couple at the 150 mark for the bathroom. 

Would he not get around that by doing imagery similar to existing artworks (I don't think he's reproduced anything exactly) and then putting them in a new context? And isn't there a sort of general understanding that artists can riff on each other's work, if they're not immitating? Banksy's done Keith Haring and Basquiat. Kaws does Schulz and numerous other cartoons. 

What do they say? The bad artists imitate, the great artists steal? The original image that's painted outdoor has a meaning of its own, but I find some wit and irony putting other artists work in the hands of his collector silhouette. The silhouette sure looks like he took down and stole that Invader right off a wall somewhere. It might actually be wanted from KR to trigger that kind of conversation on the appropriation of intellectual property in art.

Again, it's a thin line, but using art from other artists and incorporating it into his own oeuvre has been a part of what he does for a long time and there's coherence in it when you look at it as a whole. I can easily see how an untrained eye just sees copyright issues, but I've been following him for years, know quite a bit his street work and studio portfolio and there's creativity in it and in context, it's definitely more than copy and paste. If all you see is MBW, you've been missing a thing or two.

 Two things that cannot be copyrighted are ideas and facts. Regarding making derivatives of art which is in copyright. Usually written permission is needed for someone to take someones art and use it and make derivative art from it. Cartoon type caracters with X's for the eyes have been done and also sprayed on walls years before Kaws did the X eyes. There is also some thought regarding ripping off an image from an artist who ripped off that image themselves. As in if someone steals an image for example Space Invader Atari game caracter and reproduces that as art, the someone comes along and rips of the same caracter from the artist. Copyright ownership would be hard to prove by a person who stole the caracter from someone else as that caracter was made public before the artist reproduced it. If any of the artists decided to take legal action against Random. In all probability they would win as Random is also using their name or moniker in his art and sales page. If any did choose to take action it would also expose the "urban art" scene as money and brand motivated to some looking in from the outside.

Feel guilty that I quite like some of these and the vandalised Magritte series.

I didn't go for anything this year, but the hand finished dripping Rainbow and the Road Signs will look great in person for sure.

Not got this hung at the mo so considering selling. Framed or unframed. 

There's a canvas one on the eBay at silly money so really not sure where to pitch it.
