Gormley visited Northern Ireland (his Grandfather was born there) in the mid 80s with the Troubles still raging - fair play to him. His first figure wasn't received well by the locals who tried to destroy it in true NI style - burning tyres etc! Glad to say there are 3 of these figures still standing along different parts of the City walls - they are now very much part of the wider cultural attraction - well worth a visit if you haven't been.....
