Does anyone on here has any experience in using an escrow service? I'm willing to use it for a non-art case (a one-month-rent deposit on an apartment) but I'm not sure how to organize it.
For those not familiar with escrow:
- you agree on a price with a seller
- you pay the amount to a third party, the escrow agent
- when you receive the product, or when you have seen the house or so the payment is transfered to the seller
Seems to me as a save method, especially as it is for me impossible to first travel to Boston to see the house I want to rent..
Please share your ideas!

escrow services, by maumau93 on Oct 16, 2011 14:29:13 GMT 1, i think its a bit dodgy to rent a house without seeing it first but, i have used escrow a couple of times to buy various items online and worked fine i think its a fairly safe way to buy but always wandered how safe it is for a seller to use escrow.

The situation is just that I am now in the Netherlands and next month I will live in Boston.. I dont have the money to fly on forehand to meet the landlord and see the house.
I always thought that I could get my money back when it is at the third party if I dont argee on the house, right?
also, which companies are reliable?

and if you dont like it get your deposit back.
good luck with the move and if im not wrong good luck with the research as-well, especially as its for such a good cause.
