Exchanghibition Bank @ Occupy Amsterdam, by sal on Nov 4, 2011 10:47:30 GMT 1, during today’s financial crisis, art has been frequently cited as an advantageous alternative asset class... not sure how many of you know of Dutch artist Dadara, but for the last couple of months he's been working on a project called Exchangebition Bank which cuts straight to that point, and allows you to exchange your money for Art that you can spend..
here are how his money bills looks like:
On the evening of the 5th November the Exchanghibition Bank will hold office in the Rijksmuseum during the Museumnacht 2011. And in the afternoon we will set up our exchange booth at the Beursplein at Occupy Amsterdam.
by doing this, Exchanghibition Bank will probbably be the only bank in the world which will make an appearance at Occupy...

I checked out Exhangebition Bank's boot @ Occupy Amsterdam, and had a quick chat with the coolest banker in the world.. this was the 1st time their exchange rate wasn't fixed, so you could basically exchange any real money, for any art money (they only had zero notes)... he also told me a bit more about alternative currencies, and about new 2012 note that's gonna be introduced next year.. the note will have an expiration date @ 12.12.12, so it wont be worth anything as currency after that date (end of the world), but it still be worth something as art.. just lovely!

I'd strongly suggest you to keep an eye on the blog, for lots of interesting articles and information on the value of money vs art, alternative currencies, and such...
definitely quite original and refreshing approach...

We believe that society needs to focus on real actions and intentions, rather than the symbolic reward bestowed on things by a mouse click. We must never forget that the real rewards of Liking bloom within ourselves and inside our communities. Clicktivism is not Activism.
Dutch artist Dadara is currently running a campaign @ Indiegogo, raising funds to realize his 6th installation @ this year's Burning Man festival called "Like 4 Real".. Please take a moment to read about it, and maybe even contribute to the cause..
