Mobile broadband dongles, by curiousgeorge on Nov 10, 2011 14:42:34 GMT 1, Heading into hospital next week and worst case could be in for 6 weeks, fancy taking my laptop with me this time. Can anyone suggest what to go for?
I'm clueless regarding these, mostly browsing and maybe a little d/l too

Mobile broadband dongles, by Deleted on Nov 10, 2011 14:57:20 GMT 1, If your phone contract is anywhere near it's end, look into a plan on 3 which includes "all you can eat" data - you can tether your computer to your phone for 3G access at no extra cost. They're the only network to allow this I think. I run mine ragged and never have a problem...

Mobile broadband dongles, by manty on Nov 10, 2011 15:07:19 GMT 1, I had a dongle thing when i moved and was waiting to connect to broadband
tried 3 or 4 of the providers, but couldn't get reception where we live. So dongle recommendation won't be forthcoming from me.
don't know if its the same for iPads with their little 3g thing? as you can possibly tell i am pretty low tech
If you haven't got one an iPad is great if your into books etc
Hope it goes better than planned for you Mr George

They're the only network to allow this I think. I run mine ragged and never have a problem... Good point. Or you can add more data for a few quid extra. Saps battery power and connection doesn't seem as strong as a dongle sometime but it works. I normally use a USB connection rather than BlueTooth, saves the battery and runs faster as USB has a better data transfer rate... That is todays top tip from me

I bet I'm going to need the install discs that came with my handset to get this going?

Dongle sorted, my browsing experience will be like overtaking National Express coaches can become a long, drawn-out affair
Duh! That doesn't really work

Wait till the pre-op room and I will be a mess at least until I get happy meds.I joke too much but I have been making an effort this week to tell those I value how I feel about them

Sorry to hear, and best of luck with the operation. I'm sure art and a forum like this are the least of your worries at the time like this... but probably a nice distraction all the same..

Mobile broadband dongles, by curiousgeorge on Nov 16, 2011 0:08:00 GMT 1, Thanks for the well wishes
Anything to distract me is a good thing in my book, can't help but feel reflective and be so very grateful for all the positive things and people I have in my life
To finish on my usual miserable note only 20 hours of food left!
p.s Art is great, once it really gets you that's it:)

Mobile broadband dongles, by Deleted on Nov 17, 2011 23:26:07 GMT 1, Heading into hospital next week and worst case could be in for 6 weeks
Hope you got someone to drop you off otherwise you'll have a big car park charge to deal with.
Have you shown any of the nurses your dongle?
Good luck.

Mobile broadband dongles, by curiousgeorge on Nov 18, 2011 0:18:20 GMT 1, Plenty of visits over the years and I always boycott the car park, I simply couldn't afford to be ill if I used the car park (this place is in the top 5 most expensive)
Funny you mention dongles, maybe a bit too much info but pre-meds made me so relaxed in my paper pants things started happening!
Totally gutted I was out all day, my window is maybe 150 metres from the new helipad and they had a training day with Sea kings landing etc.At least a nurse or two got to see the massive chopper
