I would think its gonna be the same kind of work that was present at the Corey helford gallery show, lots of flutterdies and maybe some book covers, wonder if he's gonna do one of these in the UK?

My wife will be in Melbourne during the show, so I had dreamt that something exciting would come out that I could hopefully purchase and she could collect....those prices have put paid to that dream!

Street art at Fed Square

D*Face is one of Britain's leading "New Brow" artist, who is often described as a challenger to Banksy's crown as the 'King of Street Art'.

For the first time in Australia D*Face will exhibit artworks in Fed Square and in a solo exhibition at the Metro Gallery.

Bursting through the pavement at Flinders Street and on River Terrace will emerge giant, concrete spray cans. This installation was set upon unexpected Londoners when they appeared at Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden and outside the V&A in 2008.

Long before street art was seen as a credible art form within leading galleries, D*Face was making a name for himself with his distinctive form of art, using a family of dysfunctional characters to satirise the media-saturated environment.

D*Face's artwork can be seen all around the world including London, Stockholm, Barcelona, New York, Hamburg, Paris, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Taipei. Some of his most famous works include his "collaboration" with Queen Elizabeth II on a series of bank notes that were quietly circulated to the public and the portrait of Pop Benedict XVI, which was commissioned by the Vatican to commemorate his pontification.

D*Face aims to encourage the public not just to see, but to look at what surrounds them and their lives, reflecting on society's fascination with celebrity, fame and consumerism. His artworks provide the viewer with a moral dilemma, embrace or reject, laugh or deny.

whoa!.. those prices are something else indeed!.. I guess thats what you get when you're living so far from anything else...

and I strongly doubt that D set the prices up so high.. I think the market is way smaller in AUS, the economy is doing quite well, and the gallery is using the opportunity...

I'm a big DFace fan so I was impressed to see him down here doing a solo show, I have a flutterdies already from his US show and I love it , although I think the printed aluminum panels were expensive at $2.6k , the canvas of Ddog were great but out of my range at $15k but my favourite was the "going nowhere fast" canvas which was already Sold at $21k, I'm going to go hunt down some tombstones which have been put up somewhere in CBD
