Ebay/Paypal advice please, by Coach on Dec 6, 2011 14:41:08 GMT 1, I thought I would call upon the collective well of forum knowledge. I am relatively unfamiliar with ebay (I have a feedback score of 2!). I bought something a while ago - the seller had +100 feedback and it was 100% positive. He was selling several of the items. I bought one using best offer. At first, he answered messages. Now he doesnt. The item has not arrived. I then got an message from ebay saying his listing (I assume for the other similar items) has been taken down for breaking rules. I gave seller a deadline to reply - passed this on Sunday. I have opened a case with ebay. Is there anything else I can/should be doing. I've looked on paypal, and that seems to suggest I just open the ebay case. I paid by credit card on paypal - is there anything to be gained by speaking to the credit card company? Or do I just wait for the outcome of the ebay case. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have never encountered anything like this before. What makes it worse is that this was a gift for my son. Cheers c Btw, on checking I subsequently noticed that the feedback he previously had is all for very low value items, unlike what I paid for (what I bought was however, under ยฃ100).

Ebay/Paypal advice please, by Goooogle Male on Dec 6, 2011 14:45:08 GMT 1, open the dispute on paypal ASAP - there's a time limit. if the seller has been shut down it will be pretty easy for them to decide the case in your favour and refund you.

Ebay/Paypal advice please, by kunstrasen on Dec 6, 2011 14:47:12 GMT 1, Shame to hear about your trouble...certainly would open a case with Paypal as well though before the 40 days time limit to do so excedes. From my personall experience I have to say that Paypal is much more useful (faster, more interested in finding a solution) than ebay in these cases. Hope you get it sorted!

Ebay/Paypal advice please, by kel on Dec 6, 2011 15:28:33 GMT 1, Coach I would definitely open a claim on Paypal. When you make a claim on Paypal it holds any funds in the sellers paypal account restricting them from transferring from paypal into their own bank account. A claim on Ebay works very similar but it is against his Ebay account always better to hit them where it hurts which is where the cash is. Its happened to me a a fair few times in the past.
The only downside to all this is the time process involved if the seller does not respond to the Ebay/Paypal claims.
Hope this helps.

Do I need to contact credit card company as well? As I said I have never been in this situation before so any advice is very gratefully received. Cheers. c

Ebay/Paypal advice please, by blobbydon on Dec 6, 2011 20:36:35 GMT 1, Hi... I have been in very simaliar position many times with eBay/PayPal and have always been successful in getting a refund.. I personally tell the credit card company as well to be on the safe side but I'm sure if you say is what has happened you will be refunded without any trouble from either company... Lot of frauds on eBay but ebay and PayPal have good safeguards against it

Ebay/Paypal advice please, by hoolz on Dec 6, 2011 20:53:16 GMT 1, Hi Coach,
Have a read of this:
www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases#debitcard
A seller on Ebay ripped me off recently by not only not delivering the goods, but keeping me hanging on until the Paypal 45 day protection had expired. Devious f*cker. Or not, as I contacted my bank, told them the situation, and they did an immediate reversal of payment!
So, just be aware of your rights, even after the Paypal protection has expired.
P.S. This was on a debit card too! It's not just credit cards that are protected. Worth knowing.

Ebay/Paypal advice please, by chrispa on Dec 8, 2011 0:36:54 GMT 1, I am sure i read somewhere that a creit card company said the normal protection on cards and ability to make a claim against a credit card company is not valid if paypal is used as an intermediary (i.e. if your card funds the money but paypal make the payment).
I would let paypal do its stuff and then if you don't get the result you wanted go to the card company to see what they can do. Some will be more helpfull than others in my experience
GOOD LUCK!!
