Your opinions on 2011 (year-end review), by sand on Dec 8, 2011 15:18:32 GMT 1, 1. There have been a lot of great shows in 2011 and i've been fortunate enough to see a lot of good art in person this year. But my favourite show of 2011 is one that I could not get to - Os Gemeos @ Museu Value in Brazil.
I was blown away when I saw the pictures online. The twins are taking it to the next level. Phenomenal stuff.
Honorable mentions go to Sickboy's 'Heaven & Earth', Adam Neate's 'Dimensional Paintings' and the MOCA show.
2. It was great to see Sickboy produce some outstanding work for his 'Heaven & Earth' show. His work is getting better and better.
3. My favourite memory of 2011 was hunting down a newly finished Blu mural in Valencia. I spotted it whilst it was still being finished from the top deck of a tourist bus! I than spent an hour retracing the route of the bus to hunt it down. Unfortunately I just missed out on meeting blu!
4. I'll have to have a think about this one..
5. My print of the year has to be the Blu release from Studio Cromie; 'Rennes'.
6. Interesni Kazki + Mr Jago

Your opinions on 2011 (year-end review), by Wearology on Dec 8, 2011 15:34:52 GMT 1, My biggest disappointment was the D*FACE show in Melbourne - I felt it lacked creativity by using way too many comic book themes and his pricing was very unrealistic. My best art experience was traveling to Sydney, Australia to see the art festival on Cuckatoo Island and hanging out with young artists at Hosier Lane in Melbourne. The artist's to keep your eye on in 2012 is UNKNOWN who did that great Meth Ghost print released by S.O.S, PAHNL who has expanded into photography, STIK who has a great personal story and a loyal following. Artsist's who stocks have fallen the most in 2011 has to be Micallief. Print of the year STIK "Couple" in light blue

Your opinions on 2011 (year-end review), by mmmike on Dec 8, 2011 16:57:11 GMT 1, Not really following your questions (I think they are good ones but..) thought I would just put in my 2 cents and say for me 2011 was the year of Ai Weiwei. In my mind he is the man. The most important living artist and IMO his influence resulted in some of the most important street art of the year. His imprisonment inspired artists to take to the streets, posting missing ads, painting on walls and side walks to bring attention to his detention. The artistic expression was not about selling prints or getting a gallery show, it was about standing up to an unjust government and it succeed in gaining world attention to the issue.
To me that is what street art is supposed to be about.
To me the biggest disappointment has been LAZ shady practice of charging foreign buyers more or pocketing the VAT or what ever it is they are doing.

Basts release from his site was a great series of prints this year. Sorry not to follow the format but let's hope for a good 2012

Your opinions on 2011 (year-end review), by nrgball on Dec 21, 2011 20:56:21 GMT 1, 1. Your favourite show of 2011?
I have to say the MoCA show. It was a huge step in the street art community and a huge statement to the art world. It was the largest turn out of any exhibition to date at MoCA.
2. Most improved artist of 2011?
Phlegm really stepped up his game. I don't know who has put up as many large scale installments around the globe. (Maybe Eine) Great work from an ambitious artist.
3. Your favourite art memory / experience of 2011?
I loved seeing the Miss Bugs exhibit at Brooklynite Gallery. The use of the space and the execution of the installation was killer.
4. Biggest art disappointment of 2011?
Art In the Streets being cancelled in Brooklyn. I was also looking forward to Sabers show at Opera Gallery. But to me it fell flat. I think he is onto something next level and look forward to his work for years to come but this stage seems unrealized.
5. Your print of the year?
I do love my TMA New York. I passed it every day for years in the East Village. I missed out on the release due to the birth of my daughter but ended up scoring a PP when I randomly became friends with the printer. I also love Miss Universe by John Doe and the Star Wars triptych by Olly Moss.
6. Your tip for a rising star in 2012?
I see Miss Bugs finding another level of recognition. Their art work has been tip top and seems ready to grow even more.
