Dolk Che Canvas, by Brushstrokes 75 on Dec 31, 2011 2:55:13 GMT 1, Edit: Removed this comment as I should just not get invloved. As I have said I quite like Dolks work but at ยฃ5k never mind ยฃ10k please tell me the following. Which of these boxes does he tick. Major museum exhibition Permanent collection of a reputable museum(s). Significant sustained auction results at reputable auction houses Positioned in significant private collection(s). Cultural or political significance. And the list goes on.....
Be careful of what I tend to call regional artist. It's not a good sign when a lot of international collector don't buy or understand their work....
I am amazed everyday by the prices of some street artists in France.... To cite only one of them Jon One. I like some of his stuff but the guy seems to only sell his work in France for major prices and I don't get it!
Edit : Meaning if you're thinking of splashing ยฃ10K+ (no disrepect to Dolk whose stuff I like).

Yea, seems like that is the trend these days. As i have mentioned before, Dolk has gotten allot of public publicity. Painting of Halden prison, the stolen wall in lofoten and maybe the most promoted street artist in Norway. I would guess that is some of the reason for his high prices in one country only.
But what makes some huge in France and the rest just fade away? What does Jon One do that other doesn't?

Dolk Che Canvas, by saint on Dec 31, 2011 13:18:51 GMT 1, Be a tight call that i think. Anyway, was more a comment on his work that sells for thousands now in france, which looks very similar to parla IMO. Not a comment on when he started graf, his old work has almost no correlation to the new stuff, IMO. (i am sure there is a correlation, and obviously artists develop styles, this is just my 2C from what I have read and seen of Jonone's work, i actually much prefer his old school stuff on trains etc).

Jone One is nothing like Parla. That's a crazy comment. Personally and I know I'm in the minority, I think Jon One's stuff is incredible, Parla - not so much.
