Mr Brainwash "Dreamboats" Print, by Daniel Silk on Dec 17, 2011 12:34:23 GMT 1, I really don't understand what your talking about
For EVERYONE, not just you! To feel comfortable and welcome to post their opinions, you need to have some sort of level of respect for everyone else's feeling and opinions. When you start getting just plain and simple abuse in a thread, that does not allow for a balanced and constructive discussion.

Mr Brainwash "Dreamboats" Print, by xmyart on Dec 17, 2011 12:46:59 GMT 1, well if you dont understand, you make a great job of explaining it in the above post.
As for the are you some kind of an idiot icon/face, no, im not. And my point is clearly valid. It relates to what you say about the opinions of others.
Is it abusive to say his art is rubbish? or is it expressing an opinion?

Mr Brainwash "Dreamboats" Print, by Daniel Silk on Dec 17, 2011 13:08:45 GMT 1, Imagine you go round for a Christmas party at your friends house are words like "shit" "fucking crap" "rubbish" the sort of thing you use when describing the dinner, their furniture or maybe their Art?

My friend would actually cook, so id go easier . Id think MBW is too busy counting cash to care about people opinions of the art his assistants make.

Mr Brainwash "Dreamboats" Print, by Deleted on Dec 17, 2011 17:06:13 GMT 1, My god, do people still actually buy MBW's work ? and at this price ? that's insane. I must be sooo out of touch. This is without a doubt one of the most ill conceived ideas for a print I've ever seen. He may as well just screenprint the text, "I am not an artist, I have no ideas".

Nope, but if it was Gordon Ramsey cooking and he was charging a fortune for it, then yes most bloody definatly.

Totally irrelevant. First, MBW is most likely a close friend to no-one here. Second, When you are invited to a Christmas Party, you're not supposed to be charged such a high amount for it... Third : When you are charged 850 USD for dinner, I think you are entitled to criticize the food... Especially if it is out of the nearest frozen food store :-)
As a an artist, it is not always funny to see his art criticized (I had my share here) but if your ego can overpass it, it can help you improve your art. So there is no problem to read bad comments here if there is a justification / explanation to it.
Problem here is that whatever "art" MBW will produce, hipsters will buy it because : 1) MBW is now a hollywood brand (seen on TV and theaters !) 2) he is said to be the new Warhol (and everyone knows pop art is so cool and worth a lot of money) 3) You can flip his prints on ebay for 4 or 5 times you overpaid for it
I personnally think that most MBWs prints are totally uninteresting, uncreative and overpriced. Knowing that he doesn't even make most of his art himself makes it worse. Not even mentioning the fact that he always wanders around with paint over his hat / glasses / pants / hands just as if he was out of a 8 hours painting session... MBW looks more like an usurper than an actual artist. I may be wrong of course but it is the feeling I have when I see him or hear him talking. Have you seen him talking on the Art Newspaper video ? He says he rented huge warehouse in summer 2012 and piece of chance it is during the Olympics, he pretends he didn't even know it... LOL, who's buying into this ? He is a marketing genius and seems to be a very nice bloke that's for sure. His originals and installations look fine and are most certainly interesting for the artworld as they are popart iconic I think. But his prints are really overexploited popmart and obvious ripoffs from famous talented artists...
I agree with the fact that people should be respectful of opinions, artists, artworks etc but MBW is such an obvious sellout and taking art collectors for a cash machine ATM that it is quite normal that he gets such bad reactions and comments.
PS : there is absolutely no hating, jealousy or bitterness in my words. Just a simple constatation. I have never bought a MBW print and have yet to see one I would buy and worth the hard-earned money I would spend for it. this is a forum to express opinions and saying his art is crap is an opinion, not an insult.
